I went to Boracay last week for a 5 day trip and mission to do a coverage of the Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool 2009 workshop. We stayed at the La Carmela de Boracay and received a great learning experience all about music, performing and the art of rock and roll. I met 13 college bands who were finalist of the competition and they are present for the 4 days workshop and lecture to be conduced by their rockstar idols. It was a fun get a way for me and I miss Manila for a couple of days but the rocker lifestyle was there and need to join with them in the quest for the big trophy to win the 2009 Nescafe 3in1 Soundskool band of the year.
This is event is the biggest music coverage in my life, covering it for 5 days, waking up early in the morning meeting up with our media friends to eat our breakfast together, eat our lunch together, go back to the hotel room to transfer my media files to my laptop, recharge my camera batteries before the concert, shower break, CR break, talk to musicians, interview rockstar idols, interview the college bands, swim, and see the awesome sunset of Boracay, these are some of my non stop activities as a blogger at the event and it requires a lot of work and also fun to do it. 13 bands were there also and heard a lot of rules and restrictions (and even us), to make everything more fun and exciting we need to follow these rules, I can dub this event workshop as the Pinoy Big Brother of rock and roll heheheh. After the workshop, they are now prepared to battle head to head in a live concert performance tomorrow (November 14, 2009) at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, that’s 13 college band finalist, 13 rockstar bands to join with them to play side to side as their mentor and a thousand audience and friends to come and support them.
Who will win this year? I have my bet already, but will keep that for myself.
