Watch this music video of the 5th Christmas ToyCon (by Troy Monsod)

The 5th Christmas Toy Fair & Mom's Holiday Finds from troy monsod on Vimeo.

Check out this music video created by Troy Monsod, I'm surprised that we have this great content floating over the Facebook page of ToyCon, I wonder what kind of DSLR he uses. Great video! there's also a story about a little kid walking around inside the toy convention holding hand with his guardian that wears a costume. The video features cosplay, toys, comics, and the people inside. Song on the background is "Heroes" from the Godzilla soundtrack.

I super love this video! Thanks Troy!

finishing the Autobot campaign

Its one of the Christmas gifts from the video game gods for the power to finish the PS3 game Transformers War for Cybertron, I borrowed this game from Gamehopper few months ago, I ordered it online and rented it and then they delivered the game to our house, I'm glad that I finished the game and itching to play more Transformers video game. I read that they are now planning to have a War for Cybertron sequel and the game is targeted to be released on year 2012, that's a long wait for me and I'm happy about the game and I super enjoyed. I finished the Autobot campaign last December 26, and to record my playtime in the whole game, I think I have around 15 hours of playtime adding the days when I turned on the PS3 and turned it off after playing. I'm still thinking if I'm going to finish the Decepticon campaign, because Megatron's plasma gun sucks! its too slow and even it has a powerful blast, it takes too much time of my game play because it always ran out of energy, That's only on the 1st level and I think there are weapons for Megs on other levels. WIP : my DIY party photo booth

3

I finally figured out on how to make my own DIY photo booth here at home, been researching and preparing for this for our New Year 2011 celebration and then after some rounds of trial and error, after 8 days, the photo booth is working! My wife prepared props, from medical uniforms stores including hats that go with uniform for nurses. I discovered that my Olympus E520 is not compatible to all of those photo booth softwares that are being used by party photo booth service provider, and I tried using the webcam version of a photo booth apps and it never meets my standard when it comes to photo quality.

I also tried the sparkbooth.com app and the photobooth mac clone for pc app, they are fine but it will require me to use my webcam and not my DSLR, sparkbooth app is okay but there are compatibility issues again with my Olympus camera, and then I read over from the Olyclubph forum that there are no compatible apps for any Olympus camera, and I said...damn. I must improvise.

And then here it is! the party photo booth is up (and my nursing uniform) and running, all I need is a red or black cloth for the background, been thinking of using mama's curtain and also a great light set up. I might go to a store tomorrow to buy some light lamps for the photo booth. I have here a night lamp but its too small for the photo booth. I used an exclusive software for Olympus camera, tripod, laptop to store the photos after one shoot and another software. It works so perfect with one push of a space bar button heheehe. We don't have a printer nearby, but If I can connect my laptop, we can now have our own photo printing station.Pero nakakatamad kaya store it sa HD na muna.

We have a timer and its funny that the 1 sec timer I set has a 2-2.5 seconds delayed, so that's a perfect timer for me.

trying macro photography using a DIY styro ring flash diffuser

a PC268620
I just tried macro photography yesterday using my Olympus E520, I stumbled this post the other night about a DIY ring flash made of styrofoam bowl of a noodles, I studied it and tried making one for my self. It works and I'm very impressed on the results, I was searching about some info on ring flash and LED video light for DLSR and then I saw that diy post, and I say this is the most cheapest ring flash diffuser.

I created my own version, but I miscalculated the hole that I made in that styro, shouldn't placed it on the middle and should be on the side of the center of the styro, so that the flash can hit that styro and illuminates the whole styro like a ring flash diffuser. And I also forgot to include a small styro. This DIY works also to any compact camera or point and shoot camera with built in pop up flash.

our Pasko 2010 moments

PC248516
Celebrating Christmas 2010 is very special to us,because Ashton just experience his first Christmas here on Earth and we prepared and make it the best, every celebration is always the best, but this year is a challenge for us. Lace and Liza did the preparation, they got an idea to wear these funny hats and just buy food for our noche buena in the mall just to avoid the hassle of a whole day of cooking food.

I accompanied Lace in the morning to buy the foods and after arriving home at lunch time, I took a quick internet log and manage all our photo files of 2010. I compiled everything and plan to print them all, its a total of 650 photos and when I do the math, that's around P3k pesos of photo printing fee. I have 2k cash on hand that day and saved the part of the money in buying the gifts and also for the photo printing, in the end.. I decided to get 100 photos only. But its okay, this time I promised to print our photos every month starting this January 2011. I got this idea of going back to photo print again after that I saw Lace's trial of this photo store in SM mall. Photo print will be good for us and especially to Ashton,so that he can see what's happening around him by looking at those photos and not on our laptops or digital photo frame.

Masyado napahaba ng intro ko sa blog na ito di ba? I posted this inline with Lace's post about - Ashton’s First Christmas Celebration | Christmas 2010 and What's IN: Christmas Funny Hats!

You may check out my photo story below about our Pasko 2010 moments

I arrived late on the simbang gabi mass because I'm resting at home after that shopping in the mall for gifts, Lace and family went there at the church early and then I arrived 15 minutes late. I got a hard time looking for Lcae inside the chapel, its crowded from inside and outside.

Kissing my wife Lace ahhahaa. Also we celebrate this eve our 6th year as a couple. yiheeee!

I'm now excited for our New Year 2011 celebration, I think its best that we plan and prepare early para bongga ang year namin yey!

(last 2 photo above is from Liza's camera)

and here's the Christmas gifts haul

PC258595
Here are the gifts that I received this Christmas.

1. Manila tshirt from Misyel
2. toothpaste and soap from Misyel
3. USB Hub from Liza
4. Canon 24-105mm cuplens from Lace

Its funny that my sis added that toothpaste and soap, I know its a joke, there lots of joke time in our gift giving activity, I missed some part of it because I got busy talking to my mom on Gtalk and we played on the webcam with Ashton. I went back at the Christmas tree area and saw Lace and the family opened up their gifts. I bought their gifts that afternoon and as usual, every year I always do this super last minute shopping in SM mall, its a hard mission, but I'm glad that the rush for shopping has ended.

My plan today is to clean up my toy shelves and store those toy boxes in our bodega, I want to organize my toy collection again to make way for new toy collections to be added in the display cabinet. I'm not even sure if all will fit inside. I'm also planning to create a catalog for my collections. You know that I only purchase toys every Christmas ^___^

Toy Hauls of the day! omg omg sale sa Toy Kingdom

PC238413
I super love Christmas! because all toy stores are on sale and bagsakan lahat ng price yung ibang toys.. It was a tough decision for me to buy this, but for a super sale price of P200 each, its hard to resist. eehehhee. Sorry Power Combiners, I'll comeback for you after Christmas. The long wait is that, hope they can change the price tag of that Mighty Muggs Shockwave.

Here's my panorama view inside and outside the new store of Toy Kingdom in SM Megamall. Located now at the basement level of Mega A, near the event center and at the former place of the bowling center. I think this TK branch is the biggest toy store in the Philippines. Let's see how will Toys R US reacts after they pops more branches like in Shangri La Mall and Glorietta.

Spider-man stage musical accident

I just saw the news earlier on TV and its a very sad news.. I'm glad that the stunt double actor is okay and now recovering in the hospital. Its a scary freak accident, when the actor's rope snapped and he fell from a 30 foot high platform.
NEW YORK – Actors in Broadway's troubled "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" were back in rehearsal Wednesday afternoon, an indication that the show will likely go on despite a stunt double's serious injury from a 30-foot plunge into a stage pit.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2010 encore performance in Velvet Channel

I missed this show and will note myself by blogging this awesome show here in my blog.

The angels are back...the Victoria's Secret angels, that is, as they take to the runway in the latest incarnation of the much-awaited "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show." Uber-hot supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima lead the angels this year, as they strut their stuff on the famed V-shaped stage to the music of hot musical acts Akon and Katy Perry. Manila gets to witness the sexiest show of the year again with its encore performances on December 25 (Saturday) at 5 p.m., December 31 (Friday) at 11:00 p.m. and January 1 (Saturday) at 5:00p.m.  when it premieres on Saturday, December 18 at 10:00pm, exclusively on Velvet (Sky Cable channel 53).

While Heidi Klum may have retired her angel's wings, a new crop of beautiful models don the three sexy collections - Tough Love, Heavenly Bodies and Wild Things - from the popular lingerie brand. Rounding up the fit and fabulous list, along with Lima and Ambrosio, this year are models Behati Prinsloo, Chanel Iman, Lily Aldridge, Candice SwanePoel, Erin Heatherton and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (who is set to appear in the third Transformers film coming out next year).

Jollibee Kids Meal toys - Tom & Jerry and Lizzie McGuire

Here's a new set of toys from Jollibee and this will be available until Dec 31 only. Fans and collectors of Tom and Jerry will love this, and also Lizzie McGuire reminds me of my college days were I encountered Hillary Duff for the 1st time (watching her Lizzie McGuire movie).

It's pulpy, healthy and orange

Minute Maid
I first encounter Minute Maid during a video blog contest few years ago and I won 1st place in that video blog contest and took home a big Toshiba LCD TV worth 45k , it was the 1st LCD tv in my life and then I saw this big rack on the side of the event hall a stack of small bottles of Minute Maid drink, it says on the label that the drink has real pulpy orange, I grabbed one and kept a bottle in my bag, and then suddenly everyone grabbed all bottles and then Iwent home with one bottle. Then the next morning, I open one ice cold bottle of Minute Maid, fresh from the fridge, and it's my first time to taste it and my eyes went big and my throat become comfy and my taste buds loves the taste and the pulpy-soft-moist of orange bits, Then I told my girlfriend to taste it and then we went to the grocery on the next day and bought the biggest bottle and added Minute Maid in our monthly supply of drinks.

check my story last summer 2009 about how to Beat the heat

Then I discovered that Minute Maid Pulpy Orange has no preservatives and its a perfect juice drink for people who wants to stay healthy and needs more real fruits in their body. I always drink every morning and during my snack time in the afternoon. The pulp bits gives a relaxing feeling for me and I drink it because I want to be healthy, with the busy sched in my life, I sometimes don't have the time to eat fruits, so whenever I'm on the go, I always grab a bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange and hit the road, then drink a fruit juice on hand without any hassle. I super enjoyed it and I make sure I have stocks of it at home.

my lunar eclipse photos featured on TV and online

a a PC228398
My photos of the Dec. 21, 2010 partial lunar eclipse was featured on TV awhile ago in QTV's News on Q. They contacted me on my phone earlier and informed me that my photos will be included in their lunar eclipse photo feature in the news. I gave them a go signal to use my photos and saw the airing of the news hours ago on QTV.

here's the video | yun nga lang they posted a wrong spelling of my name

My photos are also featured at SpaceWeather.com and Erika Valdueza's The Sky Above blog
It is also featured in the front website of Phlippine Astronomical Society

btw, the photo of the moon above was taken at around 8pm today December 22, 2010. I used my Olympus E520 dslr with 150mm zoom lens

check my photo coverage: Partial Lunar Eclipse of December 21, 2010 (Philippines)

My set up taking photos of the partial lunar eclipse

Nokiac30380
Here's my set up awhile ago during my partial lunar eclipse observation. Its my first time to place a set up in the terrace of another house (we will be moving here soon), and I love the view here and I can see the skyline and also the flow of the wind is nice. I think this spot will be my observation venue for any astronomical events. I sometimes shoot here for clouds and stars. hmm placing a couch and a coffee maker nearby will be great.

On photo: my Acer Aspire 4741Z laptop and Olympus E520 with 150mm zoom lens mounted on a cheap CDR King tripod.I took this photo using my Nokia C3.

siguro mas ok if I purchase a telescope na.

photo coverage: Partial Lunar Eclipse of December 21, 2010 (Philippines)

a PC218051
Its hard to observe the partial lunar eclipse today and it's cloudy here in my location in Cavite, Philippines and been waiting till the sky clears and let the strong winds move the big clouds, I was waiting for the moon to show up during our sunset, I started to loose hope in seeing the moon and then after the sun's ray goes out of the sky, a big orange moon showed up from nowhere and the appearance of the moon is a split seconds. I took this first photo at around 5:40pm and I'm already late for the start of the partial lunar eclipse. At first I'm not sure if that's a cloud or the shadow of the Earth, then I researched and saw some photos of our local astronomers, they too got the same photo and observation.

Get ready for another Partial Lunar Eclipse on December 21, 2010 (Philippines)

I got reminded of this global natural event with blogger Earth posted a plurk last week about a Lunar Eclipse that will happen on December 21, 2010. And then I remember it again and searched for some info about this eclipse event online. Then I read some news at http://www.buzzstation.net/2010/12/total-lunar-eclipse-december-21-2010.html

that the event will happen on December 21 here in the Philippines as a partial lunar eclipse. The shadow of the Earth will be visible covering a small portion of the moon, it is also similar to this event that I covered last 2009 - Penumbral Lunar Eclipse ( February 9, 2009) ( Manila, Philippines)

I checked the moon last night and started to calibrate my camera and also prepare my gears

a PC207955
this is the photo from last night at 6:30pm

a PC218036
but I checked the skyline at 4pm today December 21 and saw a cloudy skies, Im hoping that the clouds will be gone before the start of the eclipse at around P5:16pm. The event will end at around P6:15pm. That's only an hour lunar eclipse.

Let's watch the skies today and see the shadow of our Earth in the face of the moon.

accdg. to John Nassr, a Baguio based astronomer and member of Phil. Astro Society - "The moon will be 50% eclipsed when it rises in the NE tomorrow evening, Dec 21."

update:
5:30pm - its cloudy and the moon is not visible, but try here to watch the live stream of the lunar eclipse, from coca cola space sci center - http://www.ccssc.org/webcast.html

you can also watch an animated presentation on how the lunar eclipse will appear today , check - http://www.shadowandsubstance.com/

The new color and design of our money, what do you think?

source
The new color of our Philippine peso bill. Looks so flashy with new colors and design. Looks yummy! ehhehe. I got this photo from Pnoy's FB. The new peso bill looks like an Australian dollar or a Euro. But still nice and neat.
"President Benigno S. Aquino III receives from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor and Monetary Board Chairman Amando Tetangco, Jr., the new design of different denominations: 20-piso, 50-piso, 100-piso, 200-piso, 500-piso, and 1,000-piso during the launching of the new generation of Philippine banknotes at the Rizal Ceremonial Hall, MalacaƱan Palace, Wednesday, December 16, 2010."
What do you think?
The P500 peso bill is nice noh? here's a close look on a P200 bill and P500 bill
accdg to this news, the new peso bill will circulate starting this month, and new coins will circulate on the next 2 years.

My 10 TRON Legacy and the challenge of the Grid review

Tron Legacy Comic-Con 2010 Wallpaper 2560x1600
Finally! after years of waiting, TRON Legacy movie in IMAX 3D was shown awhile ago and thanks to Walt Disney Motion Pictures Philippines for the premiere invite and also to SM Cinema. And I just can't believe that I'm the first guy to fall in line infront of the IMAX theater hahahaa.

Tron advance movie poster. Tri-fold tron legacy movie poster 1
1. Watch the 1982 TRON first, download them in torrent or search for the dvd if you can, there are lots of elements that you need to understand first before you watch TRON Legacy

2. or you may try catch up and google a story about TRON and read the story in Wiki

I'm Not Your Father
3. The CGI version of Jeff Bridges as the young version of himself as CLU and Kevin Flynn is a great breakthrough in movie making, you can make actors go young again with a help of a computer rendition of their face

4. Girls in the grid are hot!

Quorra 2
5. Olive Wilde as Quorra is super hot hot

Recognizer

LC Jump
6. The new version of the light cycle, disc battle, Recognizer ship and other ships are cool, if the 1982 Recognizer is scary then this 2010 version is cute. They finally explain how things go and how these ships are operated. Its like watching the Centurions cartoons.

7. I super enjoy the IMAX 3D screening. Highly recommended! Some scenes are all in 2D, but the layering is fine, you'll enjoy most part in the Grid scene and battle scenes.

8. Daft Punk dies in the movie. Im disappointed! but the music they composed for the movie brings life to the original TRON and retro gaming music. You'll hate me for this, but let's say that I'm lying , ahaha. got your attention!

9. Story is much better than the first film, they finally delivers the story right this time, at least for years, they brought back a story about computers and programs that can change the world.

10. I love the idea that Kevin Flynn figured out how Wifi works in 1985. He is the god of the computer age and Clu 2 is the fallen angel.
