IBM Provides IT Consultants to Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) For Operational Efficiency

Quezon City, Philippines – 05, February 2010: Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) is experiencing greater operational efficiency resulting from two strategic agreements signed with IBM. As part of the deal, IBM provided SAP consultancy services to PSPC’s Global Systems Applications and Products (GSAP) in Data Processing for its Downstream One project implementation in the country.

Aided by IBM’s global pool of SAP consultants, PSPC successfully integrated its local Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with the Shell global system for its Downstream business in the Philippines. IBM also helped consolidate the smaller legacy applications into Shell’s global system. This helped enable PSPC to achieve its Downstream One program objectives of simplifying and standardizing systems and processes in its operations. PSPC and IBM teams worked tirelessly towards ensuring a successful project implementation, delivering the best “GSAP Go-Live” ever on July 1st, 2009.

Key to the project was IBM’s ability to provide a simplified business procedure for Shell’s business partners in the Philippines, which resulted in the issuance of accurate and timely invoices. By automating the said procedure, the time taken previously to issue invoices manually was significantly reduced. As a result, PSPC’s sales managers were able to channel their energy and focus on developing greater customer relationship.

“The GSAP system helped Shell’s commercial team build better relationships with business partners. The system issued precise invoices while minimizing time spent on clerical work. PSPC signed the contract with IBM in May 2009, building on an earlier agreement in 2008 for a total deal value worth USD 9 million.
