TRAVEL & ADVENTURE : Birdwatching on Saturday, April 17

I'm happy that Mike Lu of Wild Bird Club of the Philippines group is having another event for people who have a hobby of bird watching and also for bird photography. I haven't tried to attend their event, but every year they conduct bird watching activities for FREE. All you need to do is contact Mike and then meet them in a location were there's a transpo that can take you to the bird watching site. This is also a good activity if you want more adventure in your life, also a good practice in photography if you have those 300mm zoom lens.

Read the full details below and welcome to the world of bird watching.
GUIDED BIRDWATCHING TRIP
Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat & Ecotourism Area
Coastal Road, Paranaque
Saturday, April 17, 4:00 PM

Your last chance to catch the tail-end of the spring migration … Little Egrets, Whiskered Terns, Black-winged Stilts, Common Kingfishers and other waterbirds feed and rest in this last patch of mangrove in the southern part of Metro Manila.

The site was declared by President Gloria Arroyo during Earth Day ceremonies two years ago as a “critical habitat and ecotourism area.”  Nothing has done been to improve the site and the Philippine Reclamation Authority continues to threaten the site with plans for another “income-generating” casino complex.  Come see the site and see for yourself why this site is worth saving.

Join the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines on a guided birdwatching trip on April 17, Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm.  Assemble in front of the Chowking, located at the Petron gas station at the corner of EDSA and Macapagal Avenue.  The gas station is 2 blocks away from the Mall of Asia.

We will then drive to the Coastal Road (end of Macapagal Avenue then turn left towards Coastal Road) and turn right before the tollgates to the birdwatching site.

The Club rents out binoculars at P 50.00/pair.  If you have your own binoculars, there are no other charges.  You are advised to wear long pants, rubber/hiking shoes.  Bring a cap/umbrella, snacks, and enough drinks.

To sign up for this guided birdwatching trip, please email Mike Lu at myckle224@yahoo.com.   Please provide name of participants, number of binoculars needed and if the participant needs a ride to the site.

Let the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines introduce you to the world of birdwatching !
