MOVIES: Predators are coming this July 8

Oscar®-winner Adrien Brody (“The Pianist”) bands together with award-winning actor Laurence Fishburne (“Matrix” movies), Topher Grace (“Spider-Man 3”), Alice Braga (“I Am Legend”) and Walton Goggins (“The Shield”) in this year’s sci-fi event movie “Predators.”

In the all new “Predators” directed by Nimrod Antal, Brody plays Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet… as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers – mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members – human “predators” that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators. The filmmakers wanted PREDATORS to be a new science fiction-action-thriller that captures the magic of “Predator.” “I was attracted to the idea of bringing in characters from different parts of the world, who are dropped on this planet and have to use their skills to stay alive,” comments producer Robert Rodriguez. “That would give us a very international cast of anti-heroes. I wanted the title to have a double meaning, where you believe the people in this movie have so much tension amongst them that they would easily kill each other off before they ever met one of the creatures. So, we wanted to have those uneasy alliances within the group. They are all predators.”

As the mystery and terror unfold, the members of the thrown-together team of killers begin to discover their better selves. “The monsters in PREDATORS are not necessarily who you think they are,” says Antal. “The film is essentially about a group of people that you wouldn’t want to spend time with, and who are monsters of their own worlds. They’re disoriented, confused and paranoid, and they’re thrown into a situation that they don’t have control over, which is frightening for them. The human ‘monsters’ face off with one another, only to learn that there’s a bigger alien in the jungle waiting for them. Their journey brings out their humanity.”

“Predators” will open July 8 in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan, Bohol, Baguio, Batangas, Lucena and Pampanga theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by
Warnrer Bros.
