Converse has made history anew last July 3 at the Times Square St. Araneta Center, Quezon City, as part of Araneta Center’s 50th Anniversary, when it features not one, but several outstanding works of art, not by professional artists, but by students from various high schools and colleges in and around the Metro.

Kenyo Student artists besieged with customization requests
Featuring the works on canvas by the high school participants hailing from Manila Waldorf School Inc., Notre Dame of Greater Manila, The Seed Montessori School, Philippine Women’s University JASMS Quezon City, University of the Philippines Integrated School, University of the East Caloocan, De La Salle Araneta University, Multiple Intelligence International School, and Kostka School Inc., and the upcycle installations by college participants from University of Sto. Tomas, University of the East Caloocan, Philippine Women’s University, Far Eastern University, University of the Philippines Diliman, Miriam College, Mapua Institute of Technology and the Asia Pacific College takes center stage throughout the day-long event.

What makes the event more exciting and truly a celebration of creativity are the inclusion of talented student artists providing customization of authentic Converse shoes while you wait! And creativity does not end with a painting or drawing that reflects your personality, friendly lacing crews were also at hand to help you jazz up your Chucks even more with lacing styles that are sure to be the envy of your friends. The freedom wall truly became a freedom of expression as participants and guests alike expressed their own creativity with doodles and drawings that covered three large canvasses! And let’s not forget the music provided by amateur bands throughout the day such as Khat. Monopond, Ginoong Vitalis and Circa! Even local celebrities from two big network stations dropped by during the afternoon to spend a few hours among truly inspiring works of art! Local powerhouse bands Callalily, Kenyo, Silent Sanctuary, and Sugarfree performed to end the night with a bang to a truly creative day!
