The funny mirror in Catanduanes Midtown Inn - Virac trip blog # 1

mirror in catanduanes midown inn
Me and Raffy stayed for 3 days in Catanduanes Midtown Inn, its the top rated hotel in Tripadvisor, we check in there because of the good rating and being the most recommended hotel in Virac, Catanduanes. During our 1st hour stay in Catanduanes Midtown Inn, I spotted this big mirror in the corridors of the hotel, they have two big mirrors and it reflect both side alleys and you'll be fooled that there's another passage way from the opposite side, but it was just a mirror and the reflection of the other alley infront.

I pass by everyday infront of this mirror and the 2nd time I passed by is that I got freaked out to see my other self from the other side hahahaha. So I took out my Olympus E-PL1 camera and took some photos of myself like having a Outfit Of The Day style or  OOTD like a fashion blogger hahahaha.

so you'll see that I'm wearing the same style.. because I brought one cargo shorts for this trip and 4 kinds of t-shirt.. yup I practice travel lite now.. but sheeshhh...I wish I have a smaller laptop.

I'm home and other chika

P4173973

I'm home now, I just arrived from a 3 day trip outside the island, its funny that I felt that I was gone from home for almost a week, but the news coming in is ground breaking. Before I board the plane last Tuesday morning, I received the news about the bombing in Boston, its one scary news especially if you are leaving your family and you go in a far location. Then one funny news is about Janine Tugonon who reveals her break up with his BF in national tv while cooking tinola manok in Kris Aquino's tv show, omfg!! what was she thinking ??

I follow the news on CNN about the Boston bombing and then just let the news comes in from my Facebook and Twitter feeds. I did some back read after I arrive home yesterday and tried my best to get back in shape in online publishing, but I gave myself a break after the trip stress. I'm so excited to share stories, photos and videos to my family and also to my blog readers about our trip in Virac, Catanduanes and also in Caramoan. Got lots of "baon" chikas too, and I'll publish it one by one.

This blog is like turning into a travel blog, I was thinking of converting it, but I decided not to, bec. I can still cover and post travel related news while I blog about Iron Man and share news about the latest restaurant and gadgets. I'm rebuilding again after the laptop broke down, but I'm glad that I'm still hanging... after 10 years of blogging awesomeness.. Azrael's Merryland will be here til the next boom of social network.

happy blogging!

Moto Meccanica launches Aprilia Manila

photo from event launch
Here's a great news for all Motorcycle fans! The company - Moto Meccanica that brought Ducati motorcycle brand here in the country, after its exclusivity with Ducati, they now offer and distribute four other Italian motorcycle brands - Aprilia, Vespa, Moto Guzzi and Derbi.

I just remembered that after Ducati, my next fave motorcycle brand is Aprilia.

Last week, they organized a launching event which I failed to attend, but its okay, let the photos and txt speak for you and let's welcome Aprilia Manila here in our country. Thanks to Wah Pinas for inviting me there.

here's the news

Aprilia Manila. The Piaggio group and its Philippine representative, Granstar Motors, introduces their flagship Aprilia dealer and company identity store in the Philippines. Aprilia Manila is operated and owned by Moto Meccanica Pilipinas, the same group that launched Ducati Manila South which quickly became the favorite store and hangout of Ducati enthusiasts in the Philippines.

With the motorcycle community foremost in its thoughts, Moto Meccanica decided to transform itself from an exclusive Ducati company identity store to one that can carry and support other high end Italian motorcycle brands. The Piaggio group, owner of four prestigious Italian brands - Aprilia, Vespa, Moto Guzzi and Derbi - became the ideal partner for this endeavor. It was also opportune that Granstar Motor was looking for a primary Aprilia dealer in the Philippines. Moto Mecccanica, with its track record in selling and servicing high end big bikes, and more importantly, it's reputation for providing great customer experience to its clientele, was the obvious choice. With the dominating wins of Aprilia in the recently concluded WSBK race in Australia where the team got all the podium slots (1st, 2nd and 3rd), the Philippine motorcycle community got even more aware and excited with the Aprilia brand. This was a partnership meant to happen. The outcome: Aprilia Manila, Aprilia's flagship company identity store in the Philippines.

Aprilia Manila will carry all Aprilia motorcycle models, parts and accessories, and apparel. The store also features a Vespa nook, showcasing the company's most popular scooter models. Our service center - Moto Meccanica Service by Motul - is a certified Aprilia and Vespa service center with fully trained mechanics and an Aprilia tuning and diagnostics computer to allow factory specified analysis and tests. Of course, Moto Meccanica Service will continue as a Ducati service center providing support to its loyal Ducati clientele and friends, as well as owners of other motorcycle brands.

Aprilia Manila, is located conveniently in Makati along the South Superhighway (5448 Osmena Highway, Bangkal, Makati), in what is fast becoming known as a Big Bike Hub, which apart from Aprilia Manila and Moto Meccanica Service, also houses the Ducati Store featuring Ducati bikes, accessories, parts, apparel, and Apexx a boutique shop specializing in after market accessories for big bikes.

Moto Meccanica has made a bold move to become the go to place for high end Italian bikes, by making its compound available to various motorcycle brands and stores. The riding community has been extremely receptive of the move and are enthusiastically awaiting its opening. There will be a grand launch party on April 13, with exciting promotion offers and several bikes on auction.

According to Bong Borja, one of the owners of Moto Meccanica, “This is a welcome development for the big bike riding community. They now have more choice of premium bands. Couple this with the availability of promos like zero interest financing for up to 5 years, owning Italian bikes no longer remain a dream”

It may be too early to talk about the future, but don't be surprised to see Moto Guzzi and the famed Augusta brands to show up in their stores not too long from now!

Manila Foursquare Day this April 16 in SM Megamall #4SqDay #4sqDayPH @4sqPhilippines

Foursquare, a location-based social networking site for mobile devices where users "check-in" at places through smartphones, text message or apps, is coming up with a special holiday for Foursquare aficionados – the much-anticipated #4SqDay!

#4sqDay is all about community: reaching out to people through establishing business or personal relationships via social networking. #4sqDay or Foursquare Day is celebrated as a way of acknowledging the impact Foursquare has made in the lives of its users. With Foursquare, distance and differences are conquered, taking social networking to a whole new level.

Foursquare Day activities vary in each locality. While some choose to celebrate the day through get-togethers and/or lectures, others do it the Foursquare way – a check-in. In the Philippines, however, a grand, global celebration is brewing. Aside from the meet and greet of Foursquare Superusers, this year's festivities will even be bigger as Foursquare Philippines partner with SM Cinema's e-PLUS along with SM Megamall, Starmobile and Papa John's Pizza. Expect an afternoon of fun-filled activities on April 16 at SM Megamall Atrium. For exclusive treats, make sure you unlock the #4sqDay 2013 official badge to get your own swags from Foursquare and a treat from Papa John's Pizza. The first 200 who will present the #4sqDay 2013 badge at the event will be entitled to a treat from Papa John's Pizza and the first 100 will be given limited edition Foursquare Day 2013 swag.

e-PLUS will be raffling off flip cameras to lucky Foursquare Day attendees while Starmobile will be giving away a mobile phone.

The Foursquare Day Philippine leg is made possible by SM Megamall, Starmobile, Papa John's Pizza and e-PLUS card—your most convenient access to the movies.

WFP Media Release: Japan Assistance Sustains WFP Typhoon Pablo Operations

DAVAO CITY – As the Philippine Government scales up its early recovery efforts for communities affected by Typhoon Pablo (international name "Bopha"), support from the Government of Japan – through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) – will help sustain the Philippine Government's on-going Typhoon Pablo operations.

The Japanese Government, which has allocated PhP81 million (US$2 million) for the Typhoon Pablo response, has enabled WFP to purchase 2,982,000 kilograms (2,982 metric tons) of rice, enough to feed 250,000 people for two months.

The donation was formally handed over recently by the Embassy of Japan's Head of Davao Consular Office Mr. Koichi Ibara, in the Municipality of Monkayo in Compostela Valley province. Receiving the donation were Compostela Valley Governor Mr. Arturo Uy and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Provincial Director Ms. Josephine Frasco. Also present were Mr. Koki Ando, Chairman of the Japan Association for WFP; Mr. Dipayan Bhattacharyya, WFP Philippines Officer-in-Charge; and Mr. Masanobu Horie, WFP Philippines Head of Programme in Mindanao.

"Initially, in response to the efforts to assist victims affected by the Typhoon Pablo disaster last December, the Government of Japan  provided emergency assistance amounting to 45 million Japanese yen (approximately PhP22 million) in the form of relief items coursed through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In addition, the emergency grant aid of US$4.2 million to the Philippines was in response to the Typhoon Bopha/Pablo Response-Action Plan for Recovery carried out by the United Nations and the Government of the Philippines through the WFP, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Japan has placed emphasis on the recovery of this area from the disaster, and has continuously monitored efficient and effective implementation of the action plan," according to the Embassy of Japan.

This food assistance has boosted support for the DSWD's Typhoon Pablo efforts, particularly general food distribution in the provinces of Compostela Valley, Davao Oriental, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Sur, and Lanao del Sur. As part of a general food distribution, the rice is re-bagged into the DSWD Family Relief Packs, along with other food items.

The rice is also used to support early recovery activities such as vegetable production and banana rehabilitation, which aim to help communities re-establish their livelihoods. These initiatives, particularly in the provinces of Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental, are supported by the DSWD and WFP's food-for-work programme, which are set to expand to large-scale implementation after April.

"WFP is grateful to the Government of Japan for its timely and generous support to the Government of the Philippines, through WFP, in this enormous task of helping families and communities severely affected by Typhoon Bopha," said WFP Philippines Deputy Country Director Asaka Nyangara. "Aside from assisting WFP in our regular programmes in Central Mindanao, Japan has always been ready to support WFP during major disasters," he added.

The Government of Japan was one of the first to respond to the UN appeal for donations for Typhoon Pablo in December 2012. Japan also provided support to Tropical Storm Sendong (international name Washi) operations in Northern Mindanao in December 2011.

Aside from its assistance during Typhoon Pablo and Tropical Storm Sendong, Japan has also been one of WFP's key development partners in the Philippines since 2009, supporting programmes in conflict-affected areas of Central Mindanao. Globally, Japan is also among the top five donors to WFP's efforts to fight hunger worldwide.

Philippines’ AirAsia’s 1st birthday blowout: “Piso” fare for all destinations starting today @fleishmanPH @airasiaph

Clark, Pampanga, 15 April 2013 – To celebrate its 1st birthday, Philippines' AirAsia is offering a one peso base fare promo for all destinations starting today, April 15, 2013.

"It is hard to believe, it has been a year already since we launched our operations. We had many challenges but the potential for growth is tremendous and we aim to play a big role in growing the market. The passenger traffic in Clark has grown tremendously last year and we have consistently remained committed in providing our guest with the highest standards in safety, efficiency and quality service," Freddy Herrera, AirAsia Inc. Commercial Head said.

The 1st birthday blowout promo is available for booking on AirAsia's website www.airasia.com from 15 to 21 April 2014, and the travel period will be from 1 June to 30 September 2013.  Guests are also able to book their flights via AirAsia's new and improved mobile apps as well which are available for download at Apple's App Store for iPhone, Google's Play Store for Android phones, or at mobile.airasia.com for WAP enabled phones.

"Before AirAsia and other airlines that came after us established operations in Clark, our SMEs and travellers, particularly OFWs and their families in Central and Northern Luzon, and those in Northern Metro Manila were underserved and saddled with poor connectivity and high fares. Since we launched our operations, a year ago, I believe we have been making small strides day by day by offering low fares and unparalleled travel experience," Herrera added.

Piso fare promo is not the only exciting thing happening throughout this birthday celebration, Philippines' AirAsia is also set to surprise passengers at the Clark International Airport with exciting games and free flight giveaways in the coming days.

"It's our birthday but we are giving our passengers a gift to thank them for their tremendous support as we look forward to another year of awesome trips and celebrations. This year will be a major year for us as we intend to double or grow our footprint by establishing our presence in Metro Manila through our strategic partnership with Zest Airways." Herrera said.

For payment convenience, AirAsia's cash payment partner service provides guest the option to pay for promo seats booked online in cash through any 7-Eleven, Bayad Center and Cebuna Lhuillier outlets nationwide. Philippines' AirAsia call center also accepts booking of regular fares via +632 742.27.47 from Monday to Sunday at 0800hrs to 2100hrs.
