LEGO-fied Intramuros iconic landmarks coming soon in Fort Santiago

The famous landmarks in Intramuros, Manila will rise as a LEGO version in a soon to open public exhibit this November 2017 inside Baluarte de Santa Barbara Chamber in Fort Santiago, Intramuros. The LEGO version of old churches, structures, buildings and even ruins of churches will be created by 200+ students from 12 school and university from all over the Philippines.

The most fun part is to see a complete and pre-war design of the these architectural landmarks of Intramuros.


The project is spearheaded by DOT, Intramuros Admin and FELTA Multi-Media Inc, the local and exclusive distributor and partner of LEGO Education brand in the Philippines, organized the iMake History Fortress Architecture Scale Model Competition.

Its a national competition composed of BS Architecture, BS Industrial Design and BS Engineering students from 12 schools, that was approved by their respective school administration and was granted by the officials to join the LEGO building content.

According to Ms Mylene Abiva, CEO of Felta, each scale model entry should be within the scale of 1:100 meters and they are only allowed to use 70% LEGO Architecture bricks and 30% alternate bricks, It means that they should be using the exclusive LEGO Architecture bricks, all have standard colors and most of the brick colors are colored white, these bricks are different from LEGO toy set for kids and it is exclusively available within the LEGO Architecture brand.

Grand prize for the best in show is PHP50,000 cash, then 2nd place PHP 30,000 and for third PHP20,000.

The contest is to end this month and the complete built LEGO Intramuros landmark will be exhibited inside Baluarte de Santa Barbara Chamber in Fort Santiago, Intramuros.

The Baluarte de Santa Barbara Chamber will house everything that is made from LEGO. Massive displays and LEGO built structures will be open for everyone to see and visit.

This will be the 1st ever in the world to have an exhibit of iconic landmarks inside a historical site.

The other photos that are taken black and white are photos of churches and buildings that are badly damaged during the war. Its up to the expertise of the students to do research and also measure the exact miniaturized scale based on old plans and photos just to complete the look of the LEGO-fied version.
