Metro Comic-Con (formerly known as Manila Comic-Con) will hit the land of SM Megamall's Megatrade Hall on August 8 and 9, 2009. So for comics fans and toy lovers, this event is perfect for you, dubbed as the next big event, the Metro Comic-Con is packed with activities, exhibits, launches, seminar and a meet up sessions with our top and local comic artists. And in tradition of promoting local comics, you'll find here in my post the check list of incoming new comics (and even old comics), toys, merchandise done by our Filipino comics creators.
Will add more in my list and will update this, and if you want to be part of the list, feel free to email me or send a comment post below. I won't be able to attend the day 1 of the event, but I'm hoping that I can be there at day 2, if the weather and budget is light to me heheheh.

Before we move to the comics check list, I like to post here that there will be a Creating Comics 101 happening at the event. The seminar will start on August 9 and click on the poster for the schedule and the roster of our top comic creators who will be there to give lecture in illustrating comics, inking, coloring, and even construct an entire comics, from writing to publishing. A must attend activity of the day if you plan to make your own comics, or just to be aware on how comics are made.

The Watchmen directors cut official DVD will be launched at the event by Magnavision. The 2 disc DVD contains lots of Watchmen goodies and also an extended version of the movie.

I don't know what wil be the surprises for all GI JOE fans, but I know that there will be an exhibit and set up of GI JOE movie that is provided by Solar Entertainment. Expect lots of toys, merchandise and GI JOE cosplayers, including Baroness and Scarlett ( no..not Scarlet Witch)

Trese Amulets
Budjette Tan announced that they will be selling these cute Trese comics character amulets in their booth. The Trese mania is here and now invading the awesomeness of comic merchandise! yay! and also he said that Trese book 3 will be available on September 2009. The amulets will be available in Ring, Necklace and Keychain item. Trese comics book 1 and 2 will be available for sale at the event.

Card Battler Teks!
Elbert Or will be releasing a new comics that is Co-written by Arvin de Leon and illustrated by Kiko Dans. They are bringing back that old "teks" card game and adding it with a new twist. Good bye Pokemons and Yugi-ohs, Teks is here! "a young boy's journey to win the Nationwide Teks Championship Cup. It's high-octane, manga-style action for all-ages!". Issue will be sold at Elbert's booth, and he just announced it in his Facebook note that a prequel comics will be published online.

I just saw this in the blog of Gilbert Monstano. Boy Ipis is our new superhero in town and issue

EDSA
Randy Valiente and Mel Casipit will be selling this one shot comics titled "EDSA", the 24 pages indie comics will be sold at P30 only. Randy said that buy this comics at the Wow Hayup! and hope that they will be arrested after the release of the comics hahaha.

iamninoy Designer Toy
Created by Imagine Nation Studio. the vinyl toy will be available at the booth during the event. This will be launched at the Metro Comic Con and its a one of a kind design that is in tribute to Ninoy Aquino. The photo above is a prototype, INS said that they did some revisions of toy design during their pre-production.
