I attended a round table talk with Atty. Erwin "Win" F. Genuino, one of the four mayoral candidate for Makati City. I know ts weird that you are reading some political stuff here in my blog, but I decided to feature different people and get to know them more, even for politics or not. But I have a big focus in the political scene in Makati City, because I love the town and it is one of the stronghold of businesses in Manila. If you want to know more about Win Genuino, you can check out his website at

Atty. Erwin F. Genuino grew up in Bangkal, he lives in Makati City all of his life and he saw what's happening in the heart of Makati. No one knows what's happening in the main residence of Makati, the commercial side of Makati was only in focus during the last term and the main residence are being left out, his main platform is about the city can start a new life and improve it. He want to increase the benefits of the people in the city, not only in the business district but also for the residence district. Win wants to know where the money is going to, millions of pesos are being generated and they don't know where the money is being delivered. He plans to use that 10 billion budget from the business of Makati to organize and construct pre-school to everyone. Win targets to advance the learning system of young students, and create more schools for those who can't afford proper education. (read more below)
For the business sector, his plans is to remove the contact of people from the local offices, this is to avoid corruption and bribe from the government staff and the people, setting up an online services and transaction is one of his plan, that way people can't get contact to common corruption and bribes, and the service will be directly for the office. Win also need to study how the taxes affect the lifestyle of the people in Makati City, and want to do make it more equal to every business people and residence.
Atty. Erwin F. Genuino said that he can lead the people of Makati and because he have a business background, Makati City should have a strong leader, because it represents the whole business district in the entire capital and need to protect all businesses and that's why it becomes the central of all business in Manila. For jobs, Win's other plans is to give free skill development education to non graduates and for those who are having a hard time looking for a good job, this is in order to get jobs for people, train them and then find a job for the people.
For health and care, he want to study the budget and give medical allowance for people who really needs it, A housing programs for squatters, like to organize rent to own housing system, and not rent forever, were they give them a chance people to live in a city they want, since many of them work and study in the city and instead of transfering them to another location and will make them add more burden to start over again.
He wants to run for mayor of Makati, because going back to the congress makes a limited movement to help more and Makati has been divided already and being a mayor of the city is a good start and about time for a change.
"the past is not important, but the most important is the future we face, this is our chance to change. if you want a new Makati." - Win
yeah, he looks like John Lloyd Cruz, but the 28 year old mayoral Makati candidate is ready for the new start to change Makati.
bloggers commentary:
I'm very impressed for the courage of Win to run for mayor of Makati City, he is 28 years old and he needs a lot of support for 450,000 Makati voters. I observed that he his heart is for the residence of Makati City, and that's a good choice to make sure the people go first and not the main business people, since I heard from the open forum that many businesses people are not really from Makati. He see himself that being ready to be a new leader for Makati and want to re-continue all the programs of the past, but want to reshape it more better. Makati voters should see this candidate and decide which is best for you and for the city you live in.
will you vote him? or not?
tough question di ba? but I want Makati City grew more, because I love the place and I mostly stay there whenever I am going to Manila.
