I was wondering the past weeks about the end of the world, zombies and the armaggedon, and I wondered what if there might be the end of the world for our data, like a massive data holocaust or armageddon were all kinds of data in the world will be gone and all of us will start all over again and all blogs will be gone in just minutes. I began to google and found some news that there really is a data armageddon, and it will happen soon. ( more below)
I read that data centers and developers already made a conference last 2008 and they are trying to see and check what will be the problem coming for our data in the coming years,and they say that the data evolution will change every year and in the next 4 years the amount of data flowing to their data servers will be quadruple, so this time they are developing something how they can protect and also prevent our data to be gone after a massive data server crash.
Data Server crash
In my experience, my first job after graduation is to be a webmaster and blogger for this American company and then after a week of work, we just discovered that our host provider just experienced a data crash in the servers and we lost everything and all data content of the website are gone. I managed to revive it and the company doesn't have any back up files, so I tried to rebuild it again and I just finished it after a year of recovering all kinds of files and data content.
Mobile data crash
There's this news last year about the BlackBerry mobile network in US and Canada were cut off and it left all mobile subscribers offline to their mobile phones and I heard that the mobile data crash occurs for the 1st time and Blackberry phones were only affected. But the only thing they experienced is that they got offline in receiving email and sms, but from a friend, they just encountered lots of data loss when their Yahoo! mail got wonky and all email files were gone.
Computer Virus
The most notorious enemy of our data and hardware, computer viruses are one of the main suspect if ever we will encounter a massive data loss in the world. But still, this involves human intervention ,because computer viruses are man made, and not made by a Transfromer decepticon.
Natural disaster
We can also experienced data loss if ever our computers or laptops got soaked in water or being damaged by a natural disaster like typhoon, flood, earthquake or fire. This incident will be impossible for a data recovery, but I heard that there are storage containers that are water and fire proof.
Human disaster
Data armageddon can also take place if a human is involved in the data lose, they can steal or destroy your data storage devices, or you might loss it and misplaced it somewhere.
The end of the world
We are not sure if 2012 will be the end of the world, but we should do something in the future on how we can preserved our data and this can be our own holocron of human civilization on Earth, I am now waiting for a coming movie that relates to this idea about data armageddon.
