I just can't believe that the timeline and universe of the 1987's Predator movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is connected to this film and it looks like the Predator I and II connects the whole series and made it into some sort of trilogy, I felt a happy fan boy after learning the story line of this film and mentioned Arnie's encounter in the 1st film. To see is to believe it folks and the thrill and shocking revelations can be seen in Predators only. check out below of some of my comments and short review of the film. (more below)
The movie
The opening sequence and credits gives the old and classic feel of the 2 Predator movies and it change so quick and followed by a semi action part, your heart will pump as you see the major changes of the character's nature. All of them are bad and you will select who will die first and who will survive in the end. Even that we have this tradition in some movies that monsters just show up in the middle and end of the film, here at the Predators movie, you won't mind that concept and will enjoy the adventure of these human characters on how they survive, fight back and begin to ask questions why are they selected in this hunting game operated by the alien Predators. There are a lot of chit chats and surprisingly that it is not boring as you can explore the background of each scenes that there might happen something bad (or good). Surprises and appearances of other characters, aliens, creatures and terrain will wow you in your seats and for Predators fans, you will enjoy this just like reading its comic book versions by Dark Horse comics.
The characters
Adrien Brody is the bad ass guy here, his character like a soldier or mercenary, a perfect match for the Predators as they have the same nature, he got some scenes like showing some muscles and running crazy and shouting like Arnie's. I like his character, he will be in the top of my list after Arnie's Predator movie. Alice Braga is one bad ass chick too, I can't comment more here, but just dont expect some sexy stuff in the movie, its great to see a girl carrying a high powered sniper rifle in the jungle. Topher Grace as the wimpy nerd doctor is a funny character in this film, you will enjoy some of the dialogues and funny moments, his character is like your refreshment if you got some trouble breathing in one of the action scenes. Laurence Fisburne major appearance gave a big clap to some audience, you will start to question your self on what is his role here. Danny Trejo aka the machete guy in Desperado hahahaa, still the bad ass guy we know, but the different is that he carries 2 submachine guys and not a big knife.
The Predators
I started to research and found out that they do have codenames or a name that we can identify them.
Berserker Predator - the one with a jaw bone on his mask, also called Predator Black
Tracker Predator - basic jungle tracker, I think he calls the Predator hounds
Falconer Predator - his face mask is like the head of the falcon ( and he flies too)
Predator Hounds - a scary alien dogs
Classic Predator - I knew it in the first place that his character looks like from the 1st movie, but we fanboys call him Predator warrior.
also, try to look for that burning head of an ALIEN located in the camp site of the Predators.
The review
I love the film, and I enjoy it because I'm a big fan of the Predators movie, and I never felt so good and not that experience I got after watching Jason X, but I'm really glad that this is not reboot and still a sequel for the 2 Predator movies. Producer Robert Rodriguez didn't fail us here and the director Nimrod Antal gave a lot of power to bring back the horror and sci fi to us. 'm hoping that there will be more Predators movie, I no longer have any wishes because I am happy with this film, but if you pick up some comic books, you will know that there are a lot of good stories that can be used for the movie, and ohhhh Batman vs. Predator in comics is a good start to read again, and I know its impossible to see that in a live action film, except that short fan film we know in Youtube. The flow of the story is in order, and the character's development is very surprising, but I just can't figure out on how to end this film, you will find it out if you watch it. and for my rating, I give it a 4 out of 5 dancing bananas.
