Barbie opens the giant pink door of her dream closet and it revealed a new global brand campaign for the Barbie brand. We know that Barbie is just a doll that girls love to play with it, style it and dress up with it, but the Barbie doll line that is present for 50 years in our market, its not just a popular fashion doll, but also a great influener for girls to try different roles and encourage them to play out their dreams.
The new global brand campaign - "See What Happens When You Play with Barbie", the campaign celebrates that Barbie is a style icon and her role in delivering fantasy to career outfits for girls to explore.
“In Barbie’s world, role play often leads to real life. Barbie gives girls the opportunity to be anything they want to be from a princess to a president, The new global campaign celebrates the ‘wow’ girls experience when they play with Barbie. After all, the only thing bigger than Barbie’s world is a girl’s imagination.” - said Stephanie Cota, Senior Vice President, Global Barbie Marketing at Mattel.
I know some people who are still into Barbie, they are some of my fashion designer friends (guys and girls) who still collect Barbie dolls and now they also design clothes for their dolls and for their fashion store. Others works in a corporate world, others are now in the music and entertainment industry. Playing dolls and toys like Barbie generates a fantasy world and dreams for kids that later on be pursue that dream to become a reality.
At the Barbie event that I attended, I spotted lots of Barbie merchandise, dolls, and a photo booth. There's also augmented reality technology that will mirror themselves and wears different kinds of clothes and fashion accessories in just a click of a mouse. The event started with a TVC of showing the wow factor for Barbie, memories came back to me and remembered my sister owns her first ever Barbie, its an Angel Face Barbie and later on her collection grew till that glow in the dark ballerina Barbie, my 2nd sister followed and she got a nice Barbie collection too, adding a hot pink chevy car which is I think our most priced possession for a Barbie doll fan and collector. The TVC showed the new toy lines and the Barbie WOW!
They also unveiled the 4 new dolls that will be available in our stores nationwide, for sure Toy Kingdom will be the 1st carrier of the new doll line - The Barbie Design and Dress Studio, Barbie Fashionistas, Barbie Flower n' Flutter and Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2.
At the mid hour of the event, they introduced to us the fashion and accessory line of Barbie, as clothing brand also, the clothes, shoes and accessory is fit also for teens and young adults, A fashion show was highlighted on stage and we saw some kids walking in the middle runaway wearing all Barbie fashion. And later on we saw some teens and young adult models into their Barbie style, this shows that we already see what happens when a girl plays a Barbie doll. It was a fun toy launch event and I've met the President of Richwell Trading Myrna Yao and I can't hide that I'm such a fan of her because here in the Philippines, she's the top collector of Barbie dolls, I even shared to her that I still kept a copy of that Philippine Hobbyist Magazine, she's the cover on that magazine and I just learned about her when I started collecting toys back in the 90s.

Its a new Barbie website that let everyone explore the many possibilities for design and style. There's a design studio and a collage Barbie poster maker online. Its a design and play hub for Barbie fans, which they can share their design and style online.

Here's a doll line from Barbie that teaches girls on how to be fashion designer at an early age. The Barbie Design and Dress Studio will allow girls to design their very own fashion outfit for their Barbiedoll. There are lots of design styles and concept that can be created with the markers, fashion clothes template and art tools for your Barbie dress.Do the design, decorate and choose your imagination.
Barbie Fashionista Doll Assortment
I didn't know that Barbie's friends are growing in numbers, that's great news because girls will love to add more Barbie's friends to their doll collection. Added in the new line up for the Barbie Fashionistas Dolls are, of course Barbie, and with Summer, Teresa, Nikki and Raquelle. Barbie Flower n' Flutter doll collecton
Its a new line for Barbie Fantasy, its a summer theme doll collection with coloful wings attached to the new Barbie dolls. The wings have a glitter effect, skirts are flowery petal, princess tiaras and a magic wand that creates 8 flowers that can decorate it to the wings. The wings can also flutter and its magical fantasy creation for kids in adding this to their own Encantadia.
Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 2
The new doll line is tie up with the DVD movie sequel of Barbie in A Mermaid Tale, and she's back as Merliah, the fashionable surf champion from Malibu and also a mermaid princess. Its a two in one doll that transform Barbie into a surfer with bendable knees, foot, arms and hands and also her surf board can transform into a mermaid's tail and you can connect it to your Barbie doll.
There's also an assortment collection featuring Barbie's Royal Mermaids, each mermaid dolls comes in with colorful and glossy mermaids body and tail. The tail changes its color when submersed in water. A perfect doll whenever you go to the beach or to your tub.
A solo Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 beach doll is also available, without the joints to her arm and legs. She stands like the normal Barbie doll looking cool and as usual, a fashionista for the summer. wearing a cute pink board short bathing suit and a pair of sunglasses.
That's our coverage for this month, its an awesome toy event for me and its my first ever coverage of a Barbie event, I'm looking forward for more launching in the next few months. So watch out for it.
