Sumo Sam now opens in Olympia in Makati Avenue, just beside the The Peninsula Manila and infront of the pedestrian lane going to Ayala Triangle. The new branch of Sumo Sam, this is their 25th branch, now occupies the former Roboto restaurant, I remember that I went there years ago to attend the Pupil album launching event. But today,Sumo Sam replaces the former Japanese resto and now the new branch of Sumo Sam offers daily Japanese buffet meal and wine everyday. The introductory price for the buffet meal is Php 499. Yeah...its a competitive price that will attract Japanese cuisine fans and foodies.
The buffet and eat all you can for lunch and dinner starts at 11am-2pm and 6pm-10pm. That's only for Php 499 only everyday, plus they also serve breakfast.

Their new branch gave a different take and new exposure to Sumo Sam for offering buffet and unlimited sushis and makis. At the launching event, I was there to witness how they serve the food for us. All Japanese food are in a buffet style bar.

Sumo Sam uses the old interiors of Roboto restaurant, they modified some parts but the iconic style is still there. Like the rainbow lit in the resto lounge area.

Marvin Agustin was there to attend the grand opening, along with his business partners for Sumo Sam, they initiate a ribbon cutting like ceremony, instead of ribbons, they used a custom made giant California Maki.

Review:
At first, I was afraid that Sumo Sam entering the business district of Makati and infront of Hotels and land with lots of restaurant, its a risky decision to move outside the vicinity of malls and shopping centers, were large foot traffic is always expected, but standing in a middle of less foot traffic might end the business, see what happens to Roboto resto...flop!!! But I'm glad that Sumo Sam did a new version of their resto and it offers buffet food, eat all you can deals and wine for casual dining customers. The interiors from the old resto is untouched and this will add new customers and also fast food fans to check out the buffet of Sumo Sam resto in Olympia.This will be a start of a new trend in restaurant. Congrats again Sumo Sam!
