SM Street Food Festival 2017 Grand Finale - aftermath
Wednesday, November 15, 2017
Hi everyone, Im back to blogging about food! I was planning to do 1st a vlog about this event, but then I decided to delay a vlog version because of the slow slow internet for almost a week. But don't worry 2 more new vlog will be posted soon if ever I get the better internet connect at home.
This is my 2nd time to attend SM Supermall's version of the Street Food Festival, its a much better event compare to the branch by branch street food event they organize years ago, the new version they have recently is much appreciated by foodies because they bring up to 50 food vendors and food brands to showcase their products and new street food concept.
This year, the event SM Hypermarket sponsored Street Food Festival launched its first series of food last August 2017 and then followed by another leg in September and October, then the last series ended last Nov 2-3 at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia.
Its a free entrance food fest and they invite everyone to drop and visit all the booths selling some local street food and branded booths for free taste and giveaways.
I didn't got a chance to attend the previous food fest, and I was clueless what will happen at the grand finale event, but all I know is that I can buy all kinds of street food and be a food explorer for a day because I will indulge myself with different kinds of street food.
When I heard about the grand finale for SM MOA, I showed my interest to visit and also participate in an Instagram video contest promoting the SM Street Food Festival --- at the event, I learned that I won the video making contest! hahaha
watch my video promotion here
galeng di ba?
I recorded and edit that in 1 hour at home
They promoted that the event is FREE and yes it is really FREE!!! they also required everyone to register and claim a passport/coupon so that everyone can use it as a guide and visit the different booths, also they need to ask to stamp their passport coupon after each visit so that they can qualify for a raffle contest in every event intermission during the day.
I spotted these Christmas gift pack that are offered at a small price deal. These gift packs will be also available in every branches of SM Hypermarket, so grab one before your next Christmas party or office giveaway.
Here are the vendors area located at the middle of the Music Hall. Wow! I can see already my favorite food that can be bought in our local sidewalk and palengke.
But I reserve my cravings, because I need to check out first the other booths. I went around to take some photos and video and then proceed at the stage area to meet our food blogger friends.
spotted: celebrity Chef Boy Logro posing for a photo at my camera, he was there for a quick food demo and also gave a chance to all fans to have a photo op.
Chef Boy Logro is the best!!! he always bring cool tips for cooking,
sayang lang I missed his cooking demo.
Here are some photos of brand booths during the SM Street Food Festival in SM MOA
On photo: Mama Sita's booth is having a free tasting of some dishes using the Mama Sita's Caldereta mix

There are too many booths, but their exposure will be available at my SM Street Food Festival video blog, which I will upload it soon (basta this month!)
The second set of the program started and here we saw the brand mascot dancing the top hit song -- baby Shark! hahaha so cute!!
ChickKnorr cooking demo with Chef Jose Sarasola
At the stage, they showcase the limited edition mugs and umbrella branded with SM Street Food Festival. The items will be given away to lucky customers who completed the passport coupon.
EMPANADA So heto na!
Its a street food festival and Im here to eat them all and try the new food concept. Sayang lang I forgot to buy and stock a lot of Ilocos Empanada
LEMONADE Perfect drink for a hot sunny day here at the street food festival. Dati we only have sago't gulaman, or melon, then the street food vendors level up to selling buko pandan and then lemonade na.
CURRY CHICKEN I got this curry chicken meal from the booth of Del Monte. Oks din sya.
BREADED ISAW This is new and a new way of preparing an ISAW on a stick ( chicken intestine on a stick) Traditionally, the Isaw is cooked via hot grill, but this version has a wrapped around orange breading that is also used for Tokneneng egg.
I didn't like it when I tasted, I warned everyone not to try it. Because the Isaw is not cooked --- or maybe they boiled it first and then deep fry it.
The texture is a bit slimy in the inside and its not tasty.
I still prefer the ihaw version or the hot grilled type of Isaw on a stick.
I warned a friend who tried this for the 1st time, he said it was okay, but after 1 stick, he quit eating the other 3 stick on our table hahahah.
Squid fillet The first time I tried was around 1997, I believed it first appeared in the streets of Recto, Manila because we have lots of street vendor there at the overpass of Recto. This food bring back good memories as one my fave street food in Manila.
The squid meat is so soft and tasty. I didn't know we call it Squid fillet, but on the street we call it "Pusit" or just squid.
ISAW The king of street food. This one is perfectly marinated and cooked well on coal grill and later on re-heated on an electric grill.
Best to eat it with a dip of vinegar with chili.
My friend Numu Tv bought some of those breaded isaw and puto pao from Rosalie's booth Rosalie's puto pao is one of the best rice cake in the South. Its different from the ones in the north, because the puto pao we have here has a secret ingredient inside --- it can be a monggo, mango, or yema inside the puto pao.
In Cavite, we call it "Lihim ni Lola"
Edit: After some google-fu, I learned that Rosalie's is based from the north
Tokneneng One of crowd favorite!! too bad I forgot to buy some but Im glad Numu TV got some quail egg balls for us.
PHP 15 for 4 pcs?? hmm okay na din
Potato fritter I first saw this kind of potato chips here at the SM Street Food Festival. I need to hunt this vendor because I want to try it and taste it
Here are some photos of street vendors present at SM Street Food Festival
Isaw
Crispy mini crabs
Crispy shrimps
Chicken skin
More chicken and pork innards
Pwede na din... palabok
Wow! Crab Claw I think the street food here at the other side are for shabu shabu type
Empanada making
Shawarma!!!! This street food invaded the food scene during the 90s. Almost everyone opened their own shawarma business, but then few of them survived and continued the shawarma craze!!
