This blog post and story is all about eggs. Its all about chicken or hen eggs. Its about the eggs that we love to cook and eat every morning. Eggs that are part of our baking recipe. Eggs that gives a creamy taste in our soup. And eggs that we take care to raise chicks that turns into hens, because they will produce more eggs for you.
If you have read the title of this blog and you get triggered by the word " cage-free and go cruel free", don't worry, I'll' be sharing some info here why it is good to switch to fresh eggs that comes from hens who goes in their natural behavior in a free range and cage-free environment.
Because chicken hens that are staying in a small cage or a battery cage is not the right way, it means that more chickens are forced to stay in small cages and they limited their movements and sometimes they get sick and stressed, the result is that these hens will produce bad tasting eggs and plus there's animal cruelty treatment. We know that they are animals, but we need to take care of them because they give something in kind to us humans, and as give-take scenario, we should give them the nice treatment.
I've visited some farms around the country, and I've learned from organic farmers that chickens that roams around freely and not cramped in a cage, eat organic (no chemical feeds or injections), can produce the best tasting eggs. I have tasted several organic eggs that they are good.
I thought that the practice of free range or roaming hens are only practiced by organic farmers, but now big chicken farms are now shifting to a new practice like the cage free and go cruel free kind of treatment to chickens.
Instead of roaming around the farm, these chickens stays in a giant chicken coop or covered chicken house, they roam freely around the coop house, can spread their wings, can stretch, can run and fly around, and its the natural behavior of chickens. Thats why they produce good and tasty eggs.
And yes, I've tasted the cage free, cruelty free eggs and its the best tasty eggs that I have tried and I let my family cook some sunny side up egg, and all they can say is that the taste is good and the size of the egg yolk is much bigger than the mass produced eggs version that comes from chickens in battery cages.
