The Beef Salpicao with Garlic Rice is one of the top seller at Whistlestop Restaurant in Jupiter St., Makati City. I was invited to check out the place along with the food bloggers last Sunday, and it was a great experience for me, because Whistlestop is very popular back in high school and never heard of it after I graduated College, then I discover the news from Lex Ledesma, now the new owner of Whistlestop, he said that they bought the rights of the resto after the main owner already migrated to the US back in 2005. And now the Makati branch is the only one left after its predecessor in Tomas Morato and Makati. The Beef Salpicao is one of my best favorite, and because I love tomato sauce and spice, plus the soft tender juicy beef, It taste like caldereta, but I enjoy it most due to its soft meat. At a price of P230, this meal is a two thumbs up for me.
Whistlestop in Jupiter st., Makati City, is a 24 hour resto, equipped with wifi internet, cable tv and a very vintage train station and train cab feeling as everything inside and from the outside will teleport you to the year of the 50's or 60's. Vintage bottles of softdrinks, tv, typewriter, clocks, luggages, light lamps, suit, and even cameras are displayed as the main interior decor of Whistlestop. The place is a must visit especially if you are a travel and photography lover.
The light is dim, and it added lots of vintage effects everywhere, you won't even remember that you are in Makati. I love the set and decor , the vintage feel will make you enjoy more of the food. They also serve all time breakfast meals like a sunny side egg and cornbeef, you must try it and you'll taste it's uniqueness. Master chef are also from the old branch, and they are so lucky that they got the vintage and old taste of Whistlestop since it was open last 1977.
