Globe Telecom introduces the country’s first public Webphone that enables consumers to call, surf, email and send videos. Globe deployed its first Web payphone at TriNoma in Quezon City as it is currently testing this service for the local market.
Called Globe E-Stop, the Webphone is a new innovation that puts together the payphone and internet service in a revolutionary touch screen device that is easy to use. Available this June, consumers and TriNoma mall goers have been trying out Globe E-Stop and it has received very encouraging response from the market.
“We are proud to bring another first in the Philippines. We are excited to introduce the new all-in-one Webphone service that consumers can conveniently access if they need to call or connect to the internet. We are glad that after more than two weeks since we started with the first Globe E-Stop we’ve had an overwhelming reception from the consumers in terms of revenues, usage and service,” said Ernest L. Cu, President and CEO of Globe.
“Globe remains true to its reputation as the country’s innovation leader since GSM technology and text messaging service were introduced to the local market,” Cu added.
Globe rolled out the first Globe E-Stop in partnership with TouchMedia Philippines under a proof-of-concept trial. It is currently offering voice, web browsing, and even picture and video email to TriNoma mall customers.
As it enhances its public Webphone service, Globe intends to offer text messaging, reloads, bill payments and advertising at the Globe E-Stop in the future.
