When one think about band members, the picture that would often come to mind are those grungy guys who sing loud songs and have girls screaming about them. Indeed, it seems that rock stars have been stereotyped over the years that it looks like there's nothing more to them. And at first look, this might be just the case with the guys from 30 Seconds from Mars.
When you first meet Jared Leto and the crew, your first impression would be that they would be your usual rockers. And it looks like their goofy antics wouldn't help the band's image either. But as it turns out, 30 Seconds To Mars is a perfect fit the the phrase “more than meets the eye” the longer you interact with them.
And here is perhaps the best thing about the band. Unlike a lot of their contemporaries who are often only the fame, 30 Seconds To Mars actually goes for something more than that.
As Jared explains in an interview, much of their songs are not simply talking about the usual happy topics. Instead, he explains that their songs are based n their own real experiences or from those whom they knew.. He also said that they often use various symbols to further expound on the themes of their songs, which goes to show how deep the minds of these guys are.
And it definitely goes further from there, as these guys really do practice what they preach. You see, all the members are actually active supporters of various causes. In particular, the band has been regular volunteers for the organization Habitat for Humanity. Not only do they hold fund raising concerts for the group, but they also participate in the actual house building sessions themselves.
Aside from this, the band also continuously support various relief operations. Just last year, the band was able to raise more then $100,000 for the benefit of those affected in the major quake that struck Haiti early that year. And they have also contributed to the relief efforts for the victims of the quake that struck Japan early this year.
With all those accomplishments, it's really no wonder that the guys from 30 Seconds to Mars are reaping the support, not only of their fans, but also of the larger public as well.
