Cosmos:
A Space-time Odyssey is one of the most awaited new tv series in National
Geographic Channel, its a sequel to 1908's Carl Sagan space educational series
"Cosmos: A Personal Voyage
", according to some that the new series is a
reboot but others said that the new series is a sequel, I can't remember the
1980's series but I have a big feeling that I have seen the series before and
Carl Sagan's outfit is a bit memorable when he start to talk and share his
knowledge about the cosmos.
The new series, Cosmos, will premiere this
March 12, 2014 in National Geographic Channel at 10PM, the pilot episode will
also air in FOX Channel at the same time, this will be the first time that two
channel will air the same series at the same time.
How much info we know
about the cosmos and the edge of the universe, all we have are info that are
based in theory and also from non stop study of our astrophysicists and
astronomers, We know some of it from a book or in a special episode at Natgeo,
but there are times that we almost forgot what's up there, I'm sure some people
haven't heard about Pluto being a dwarf planet and not a major planet that
revolves around the sun, and recently I just learned that there's no Planet X,
but beyond Pluto, we have more thousands of dwarf planet that are like
Pluto.
I just learned about it from tv news and also the internet, and
also my interest about the heavens and the bodies that floats around us. Thanks
to National Geographic Channel for bringing another educational entertainment
for this year, because the new series Cosmos will bring back our interest to
question, investigate and learn more about the space around us.
Me and my family just saw the pilot episode, during a press
screening in Mind Museum, we brought our son with us because at 3 years old, he
started to have the interest and learn about the solar system, thanks to books,
the internet and National Geographic Channel as our bridge to new
leanings.
Cosmos: A Space-time Odyssey will amaze the viewers once again,
because the series is targeted to all ages, I'm sure kids will also be
entertained when they see some animations that explains this popular person on
how they discovered that the Earth is not flat and the sun and stars not
revolving around the Earth.
Also, when I saw the Voyager 1 and 2 CGI
animation in Cosmos, I felt a goose bump in me, because those probes went
beyond our solar system and they are now in deep space, the most farthest
location ever reached by human's scientific instruments for space. And according
to scientist study, the sun rays can reach the edge of our solar system in 400
days. There are lots of things going beyond our solar system, I'm sure there
will be more information that they will share about new discoveries here in
Cosmos.
I know its nose bleed info already hahaha, but I suggest you
watch COSMOS This March 12.
Bring your pop corns, and sit beside your kid
when you all watch the show, and if there's a question that pops from your mind
or you kid asked you too much question, then you can all go online to research
and read about space, and also don't forget, episode 2 is coming next
week.
Cosmos:
A Space-time Odyssey is hosted by popular astrophysicist Neil deGrase Tyson, he
is also the author of the New York Times bestsellers "Death by Black Hole" and
"Space Chronicles: Facing the Ultimate Frontier.
I admit that I didn't
know him, but I like his style on how he narrate the story and present some
explanation on how we everything is created, according to Neil, he met Carl
Sagan when he was a kid and he didn't expected that he will stand after Carl to
share info about the Cosmos in this 2nd series.
I'm also shocked that the series is produced by Seth MacFarlane, the creator
of the animated series "Family Guy", he's just an astronomy enthusiast (like me)
and not a scientist, but he is so dead serious to spearhead COSMOS for us, and I
want to thank him for doing an awesome collaboration for the series.
Director of Cosmos is well known to sci fi fans, I jumped into my seat when I
saw the name of the director - Brannon Braga, this guy is a popular director two
sci fi series -- Star Trek Enterprise and Terra Nova.
The secret of the universe will be revealed here, I suggest
you prepare for some astronomical terms like cosmo years and dark matter, but
don't worry, everything will be explained in nice manner that a kid can
understand.
The
Big Bang....... how the universe was created... everything are made of
stars.
From the spoon we use, from the internet, from clothes up to the
neighbor who loves eating dried mangoes... yes...they are made up of stars too.
Mark the date -- March 12 at 10pm in Natgeo and Fox.
Here
are some photos from the press screening at Mind Museum
Ashton's
