Philippine Plaza will celebrate Mother’s Day in a special way, for this May
9-17, 2014, they will feature not only good food in Spiral, but also we will
appreciate the traditional craftsmanship created by Filipino women from
different regions of our country, there’s also a fashion show of modern and
traditional crafts, and many more.
Its more than just a mother’s day
event for their guest, Sofitel brought a piece of tradition and culture in every
corners of the Veranda and Spiral, if you are looking for a place to understand
and appreciate the legacy left to us by the early mothers, then you have to
check the series of Sofitel’s event with actual demos of weaving and looming,
taste the old recipe created by the Sofitel chef’s mother and grandmother, and
also feel the vibe of how old tradition of weaving that is not forgotten still
exist in this modern age. Its all about our moms, the long forgotten moms and
the unfamiliar moms that we want to meet just once in our lives.
Before
I introduce to you the photo story and Sofitel’s offerings for Mother’s Legacy
theme event, let me share first the rates and also their mother’s day
promo.
1. Spiral’s Mother’s Day Brunch ( May 9-17,
2014)
From 12nn-3pm, Rate is set at PHP3550++ for adults and PHP
1500++ for kids. Dinner rate is set at PHP2550++ for adults and PHP 1300++ for

Mother’s Legacy Fashion Show (May 13, 2014)
Fashion designer Ryan
Madamba of Ilocos Norte will be showcase a one of a kind fashion show featuring
the cotton loom woven textile called Abel Iloco designed clothing that are hand
crafted by female weavers of Ilocos Norte.

3. Mother’s Day Rooms Packages
There’s a
special rooms package from May 9-13, 2014. Guests who booked the Mother’s Day
rooms package will receive a special three strand freshwater pearl bracelet as a
memento of their Sofitel Mother’s Day weekend.
4. Australian
wine and bar barbeque (May 10, 2014)
At Sunset bar from 6:30pm to
10:30pm, enjoy Australian bbq favorites partner with Filipino and French
cuisines. Enjoy the sunset by sipping a nice Australian Bimbadgen wines from
sparkling, white, red and rose, presented by General Manager, Rebecca Poynter.
At the Sunset bar there will be cultural shows and fireworks display at
night.
Rate is set at PHP 2,200++ for adults and PHP 1100++ for kids.
Mother’s
Legacy is brought to you in collaboration with the provincial government of
Ilocos Norte, Bergamo and S.C. Vizcarra. Featured on photo: Editha Dacuycuy,
Dragon Lady of the Northern Philippines and producer of Dragon fruit, Ilocos
Norte Governor Imee Marcos with their Ilocos weaver, Bergamo with their women
embroiderer of Taal, Batangas, and S.C. Vizcarra with their basket
weaver.
You can see the live demonstration at the Veranda of Spiral,
you can also try weaving and also learn how to make your own, there are
sessions also about floral arrangements by Larry Pagsanjan, all of this are
available on May 9-13, 2014.

The
apple of my eye of that preview day is this Dragon fruit wine, I’ve tasted this
at the wine appreciation session at Spiral few months ago, it is become one of
my favorite local wines, thanks to Spiral for bringing this to us, my wife is
now planning to buy one this Saturday. The Dragon Fruit wine is priced at
PHP350 per bottle.

May 9-13, 2014, during the Mother’s Legacy celebration, Spiral’s inhouse artisan
chefs will showcase the food recipe that they inherited form their mothers and
grand mothers. It’s like an expo of food recipes that came from way back three
generations of mothers of our Spiral chefs. Not limited to French cuisine, they
also have Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Korean food recipes from the
chef’s mom coming from their country of origin.
