What I learned after joining the 9th Robinsons Supermarket’s Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run
Saturday, July 09, 2016
I just can’t believed that I joined and finished my first ever fun run. Im not sure if I can join again, but I can say that a 5KM run is a piece of cake and as a first timer I noticed that some just run and some just walk haha.
So kaya ko pala. But I’ve learned many things from this fun run, so if ever I will join in another 5KM run, I am now so prepared and I avoid the mistakes and careless things I’ve done from this fun run. First time is always a trial and error. But next time, mas magaling na ko.
Robinsons Supermarkets' annual fun run - the 9th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run was held in the street of BGC. The fun run is organized by the country's largest health and wellness supermarket "Robinsons Supermarket". They organize these fun run events to promote of healthy lifestyle. Nestle Philippines, Johnson & Johnson, Nivea and Fonterra are there to support the campaign and also the event.
The requirement for the fun run is that you need to have a buddy to run with you. So during the pre registration days before the run, my wife signed up and told me that she signed me up too as her buddy runner. I can't decline because Im happy to know that Im her first choice as her buddy run.
In the aftermath of the run, finisher of the fun run received their own different prizes, 2nd and 3rd places of 5KM run received PHP8,000 worth of Robinsons GC, for 10k runners they received PHP 15,000 GCs.
For the 1st placer of 5KM, they won 3D/2N trip with accommodation for two in El Nido, Palwan. Then for the 10KM winner is a trip to Bali, Indonesia.
For us non-winners received our own prizes-- they are not medals, but its a grocery bag filled with goodies from Robinsons Supermarket. That’s a fun….in a fun run!
Here’s a photo with personalities, and including the founder of Robinsons Mall (lady on purple shirt)
I travel around and I always check for the itinerary and maps of the place. So here I am reading the map and understanding where to run and where to finish the race.
We arrived at the venue at around 4AM.
Grabe. puyat pa ko kasi 11pm na ko nakauwi ng bahay.
My energy is not in 100% full charge. So I learned that if ever I will join a fun run, I should sleep early and prepare to energize myself for the fun run day.
10KM runners waiting for the gun start signal.
I don’t have photos of our fun run journey….along the way I am so basag and tired to take photo
But I have some videos to prove that I ran hahah.
Watch it here:
At the finish line…me and my wife Lace lined up to claim our prize.
There’s the grocery bag!
panalo!
napagod na ko….may grocery ka pa
sana araw araw na lang ito hahaha.
Grabe..mabigat pala ito.
Buti we have a transpo service going back home.
Lucky winners and early race finishers.
So here’s what I’ve learned after joining this fun run.
1. I should stay home and rest a day before the fun run
2. Do running training months or weeks before the fun run
3. Wear a really short shorts… because long shorts is a hassle. Nahuhubuan kasi ako
4. Don’t bring bottled water – hassle lang sa run, there’s hydration station in every corner of the venue
5. Wear a belt bag for my phone or wear those arm bands to carry the phone
6. Don’t eat hours before the run – nadale ako ng siopao one hour before the run, ang bigat
7. Always hydrate and visit the toilet to relieve self before the run
8. Wear a proper running shoes
9. Warm up and stretch those arms, legs and feet
10. 100% mentally prepared
Okay, I think I’ve learned enough.
Im so ready na for the next fun run…
