BASS Ph is a mobile application that measures the current connection speed of their phone real time. There is a virtual map that locate where the telecommunication provider had a connections on a certain area or place.
BASS Ph or Project BASS is officially launched last November 9 at Resorts World Manila. BASS means Bandwidth and Signal Statistics. It is independent internet measuring provider similar to OOKLA that gather data from download the application thru phone, when they run the speedtest and a virtual map of connectivity of telecommunication provider. The use of this data will help the country to improve connection.
It will benefit telecommunications providers generated reports where those area are their strength and those place that are slow bandwidth. They use those report for future expansions and allocate additional resources where the place needed the most. They can also check if there is new products and services they can provide.
The group consists of IT Professionals that are join forces and volunteer to make the application and make sure the data collected are accurate and free for all. They also include data wherein can detect what certain phone unit based on their performance during actual usage.
BASS Ph is easy also partner with DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) to collaborate and cooperation with Telecommunication Companies to improve the services that they have.
