Being a volunteer really changes a life and also your life, I was invited last Tuesday for the premiere screening of two documentary films “
Panudlak and RV diaries” and its in line with the 50th anniversary of
VSO Bahaginan, (Voluntary Service Overseas) is an international development organization that works through volunteers. And they bring those volunteers in developing countries to help and change the way of life by giving quality education and proper alternative learning system for those who are unfortunates. (read more below)
The film focuses on two countries, and I’m glad that there are people who are still open in volunteering in these days, the result of one’s contribution will take effect for a long time, and because that we have limited number of volunteers around the nation, the change is still slow but the developments are moving forward on the next generation.
Its really hard to be work in other countries, especially for the poor countries and cities, as I see in the documentary films, you’ll understand and feel how hard it is to be alone and push yourself to the limit, just to give and help these people who are in need of your skills and knowledge. I just learned back in college that knowledge and learning is still the big pot of gold in our lives and I’m very fortunate in having it and happy that I shared some of it during the times I tried volunteering in some schools, just to have an awareness and also the experience of transferring that knowledge to someone.
I didn’t finished the whole film that night, but because of something I need to attend and I feel great after watching the film, it is very inspiring and helpful, because everyone have the same vision and mission in helping the poor and the less fortunate. But If ever I will volunteer, I will choose our country to help those poor regions, and even that we are in the state of crisis, we know we can still help them and bring change.
Thanks to Rachel Nalus-Quintos for the invitation, congrats to your group and also to Chits Jimenez for being part of this big project.
