I've been using Friendster.com since March 2003, I think that was the year when Friendster came out and the birth of social networking sites (SNS) to the public. People went crazy and addicted to Friendster in the following year and then as time goes by, People now use lots of SNS and seems to divert their attention to different kinds of features and genre of each SNS sites. Many people stick to Friendster while others went out and use other SNS.
But before 2009 ends, Friendster.com reveals to us bloggers last night that will have a rebranding of their logos and upgrade/change of their User Interface (UI) . I know many people will talk about this big shift and change in the coming weeks as they will observe the effect of the rebranding this Friday, December 4, 2009. No exact time for the big rebrand, but I think they will follow the Califonia time as they will take out the old UI and replace it with a new one aimed for enterainment and lifestyle of the youth, with a friendly feel of color green and it will make you smile ^___^. I'm very happy that Ben Dunn, Vice President Philippines and Global Head of Brand Experience of Friendster is very open to us bloggers and answer a lot of questions regarding about their rebranding and revamp. I felt really close to Friendster because of this and this time they will listen to us users and hear what we really wanted that make us happy and SMILE.
It will be the next big hit and for my prediction, people will go back to Friendster, while other late blommers will go to other SNS. But hearing from Ben Dunn the big change, I just saw the future of SNS.
Earn money while using the SNS
Not an actual money, but it is an e-coin, e-cash or e-wallet that can be use in buying virtual gifts or -- buy real items from the real world. This can be acquired when you play some online games to earn this e-moolahs.
Pages for different interest
They have lots of genre pages were all fans and lovers of all kinds of genre like music, entertainment, showbiz, gaming, sports, news and etc will stay all in one place. Using their new Friendster page for different genres will contain all communities into one.
Change of the UI
The big change of the user interface is a long debate, I just let you all review this Friday. But I'm expecting a lot more use than we see in other SNS.
Events
Yes! here in the Philippines they will be more active in ground events, from campus tour, concerts and shows. January 2010 will be start of their promotion events and just watch out for updates in your Friendster account pages.
