Something to look forward to on July despite the cloud and rains that cover our skies. For this month, we can expect to see 4 planets that can be seen on the western horizon after dusk. If we were to observe every night, we will see Saturn and Venus approaching Mars from the top and bottom of the planet respectively. Regulus will court Venus, who is on her way to Mars, during the 2nd week of July and will be joined in by a thin crescent moon on the 14th and 15th. Regulus will then continue its path to the horizon and meet up with the elusive Mercury on the 27th. We end the month with Saturn and Mars nearing each other with Saturn beginning to overtake Mars to the horizon.
Jupiter on the other hand can be seen (as of this writing) rising at the horizon after 12 midnight. In the next few weeks, we should expect bright Jupiter to rise earlier on east.
This month is just a preparatory for August's Saturn-Mars-Venus clustering.
Some may have heard of the July 11 Solar eclipse, but the solar eclipse will not be visible in the Philippines.
