Key Features and Initial Thoughts

  • 6.5” Screen Size with Full HD Resolution
  • 3750mAH Battery
  • Big storage capacity
  • AI Enabled Cameras

One of the things that the Honor 8X boasts is that the cameras already have AI enabled thus bringing scene detection and other AI functions readily available.

The 6.5" full view screen with 91% screen to body ratio  is amazing to look at and browse through. With it's thin body(i think its like the nova 3/3i size) it feels great in the hands and not too bulky. The notch is also decent sized and can be hidden just by going through some settings.

It has a glass back and metal frame which really feels like its a premium phone. However, there are some downsides. First, it is not water proof/resistant certified, next it uses micro-USB for charging which I guess is still okay, but USB Type C is better.

The CPU is okay, the Kirin 710 is a decent processor at least for its price point. The switching of screens and apps and the response are fast and very decent.Haven't tried the fingerprint scanner unlock speed though.

Speaking of which, it is placed on the best position at the back of the phone where your index finger naturally lands making the unlock as natural feeling as it is

The RAM of 4GB is also not bad combined with the large storage capacity of 128GB, it will definitely be worth your money.

The price is really competitive. And actually pretty good for the specs that this phone has.

It is priced at Php 12990 and for me this is a bang for the buck budget smartphone that won't make you feel inferior against flagships and other mid range phones.

Wil Dasovich shares his experience with the Honor 8X

We are delighted by the presence of Wil Dasovich, one of the top Youtube Content Creators on the Philippines and he shared that one of the things the he really looks for in a phone is a good quality camera which the Honor 8X has.

With his hectic travelling lifestyle, the Honor 8X can keep up with it and helps him get the shots for his videos and other social media needs.

Conclusion
If you are looking for a budget friendly smartphone that have mid-range specs and decent quality, consider buying the Honor 8X. The specs and everything I’ve tackled above is just the scratch of the surface though. Hopefully, I’ll get my hands on one to do a full review.

But for now, the things I’ve mentioned above are my initial thoughts of the phone and I do think it’s worth recommending to people wanting a good smartphone without breaking the bank. Coverage by: Kevin Karl Gabutin Jornacion of Techgabster For Azrael's Merryland Blog
