5th Manila Comics Creation Seminar production note 2

this will be on October 27-28, 2007

I created a poster couple of days ago, and it should act like a teaser poster promoting the seminar in SM Megamall, and the graphic artists is still unavailable to do it, thats why I created one immediately. A new magazine launching next month about Home and Lifestyle, and i think it has content about pop culture, there they asked me for an event that they will feature it for the magazine, So I was late preparing all the materials and Im glad that they accepted my proposal for featuring and got some requirements needed for the event feature.

wow! thats great and the event will be featured for free. My hands are already itching for organizing this event and got lots of ideas that will put here and make it a big blast.

there's also an event same as our seminar and Im so sad that it will be a conflict and before that I got plans in acquiring booth for that event.

Mike Deodato will be in a comic convention in Brussels and for now no new words yet if he can make it here in Manila, but if he didn't make it in Brussels theres a slight chance for him to come here at the seminar. no official words yet, but thats the plan and I know it will be great.

Glass House Graphics will be organizing a comic seminar and its great the I'm involved in making this event since the first one and Im happy that everyone got a chance working in comics and experienced whats like to be in it, well- for me even that Im not a comic artists, I just know what the experience is like... - deadline, the fun, the talent fee and the world recognition about your work, too bad that some are nameless here and even some of them are known by comic fans and not the regular people.

oh...ok..theres goes the rain again.
got to get up and paint my ass, wishing for the sun god hears my wish.

3rd Arts and Music Festival production note 2

Yesterday, I went to Megamall to meet Lace, and after eating at Komoro Soba,we spotted the poster already displayed near the escalators of the mall. I was about to go to Megatrade, but we need to go home early, just to avoid the heavy downpour and traffic.

last wednesday was the exhibitors briefing for the arts fest, but too bad for me that the rain is heavy and the unimaginable traffic is already happening in the area of makati and ortigas, I just heard that most part of buendia are already flooded, chest high flood..whoa!

so i decided to postpone my participation for the exhibitors and messaged all my friends that I can't make it and so to prevent some trouble, I adviced them that we resume our meeting today, Friday.

and it seems that the rain is hard here in Cavite, but after surveying some people in Manila, my sister in Pasig told me that the rain is not that heavy. So I guess I'll be running with the rain and swim in the flooded areas of Cavite going to Manila. haahahaa.. bahala na.

So today, we will have our meeting with the organizers of the Arts and Music Festiva and Trade Fair. and then we will discuss too and brief some of the people of Artists' Den who will use the booth for this year on where and how-tos for the ingress.

oh well, time to take a hot bath and prepare to get wet going outside.

happy day to everyone!!!!

Ego Systems and Shangri-La Plaza Corporation invite the public to view RoboFiesta@The Shang on August 25 and 26 as robotics teams from various schools come together at the mall’s Grand Atrium, showcasing the best in Philippine robotics to audiences both young and old as an influential avenue for education, industry, sport, and entertainment.

Powered by Energizer and presented in cooperation with Felta Multi-Media Inc (National Organizer of the 6th Philippine Robotics Olympiad), the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology, with the support of the Department of Education and SmartBro, RoboFiesta@The Shang is designed as a creative event, enabling those with long-standing interest and work in robotics to showcase what Filipinos of various age brackets have come up with.

Schools who have figured prominently in various city-wide, national and international competitions, and whose own academic and extra-curricular programmes provide their students with the creative zeal, will feature their works and share info on possible applications of robotics technology in various fields. Among these are Makati Science High School, Grace Christian High School, Colegio de San Agustin, Juan Sumulong High School, Novaliches High School, Manila Science High School, Mapua Institute of Technology, University of the Philippines Mobile Robotics Laboratory, Adamson University, AMA Computer University, and Batangas-based First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH), which won the championship in the World Robotics Olympiad held in Nanning, China last year.

The event likewise seeks to bring out other robotics enthusiasts who have remained "undergound" as hobbyists, but whose yen for creativity in electronics design puts them in a league far removed from traditional model-makers. CP David of the Raya School will give a workshop on Basic Electronics for 7-year-olds, while Henry Chua of E-Gizmo Mechatronix Central will discuss their latest hexapod and biped robots.. Richard Taylor and his students at Manila Science High School will share their experience in “Learning Physics Through Robotics,” even as teams from Mapua, UP, and Adamson demonstrate robotic applications in industry , the military, and disaster recovery.

RoboFiesta@The Shang invites school teams to join friendly competitions in sumo, line-trace and maze-navigation using the Lego Mindstorms series, while public schools who took part in the Makati Mayor’s Cup Robotics Series cap their Open Design Competition through a collective module on Robot Sports. Mylene Abiva-Sazon, president of Felta Multi-Media, will conduct an E-Lab for Lego Education, leading to father-son and father-daughter contests. .

Curated by Susan Isorena-Arcega for Ego Systems Inc, RoboFiesta @The Shang also features Norman Crisologo’s array of vintage robots, collected during his trips and from ukay-ukay stores all over the country. Special guest appearances will be put in by C3PO, R2D2, and Optimus Prime, courtesy of the New Worlds Alliance. Information displays from Japan, Korea, and Germany will highlight major developments in the field of robotics alongside the Carnegie Mellon University’s Robot Hall of Fame.

RoboFiesta@The Shang is brought to you by Japan Foundation, E-Gizmo Mechatronix Central, Festo Didactics, Raya School, Richville Hotel, Figaro, NU107, Dunkin Donuts, Ilustrador ng Kabataan, KidzStation, WowWee Toys, Centrex, and the Metropolitan Museum. Those wishing to join the competitions and take part in the workshops should pre-register by emailing

For the complete activity schedule and other enquiries, please call the Shangri-La Plaza’s Marketing Division at 636-1228, or contact mobile numbers 0919-4885409 / 0906-3099595.

involves a girl looking for a SMB beer, then Jet Li saw a waitress roaming around in their party venue and did this shaolin kung fu jump grabbing bottle of SMB beer in mid air and then he gave the beer to the ladies.

The comics industry lost a luminary this weekend – Mike Wieringo passed away Sunday of a sudden heart attack. Details are still sketchy as of this time, but according to close sources, the acclaimed artist had chest pains at some point during the day and called 911, but the responders did not make it in time.

Wieringo was 44 years old. He was a vegetarian, and “one of the healthiest ones of us in the bunch,” as his longtime friend and collaborator Todd Dezago described him.

Wieringo worked every day, updating his blog and website with a constant stream of sketches at His last sketch was posted on Friday.

/when it comes to Spider-man comic art, sometimes his name pops into my mind first, during college we always critique his taking role in penciling some issues of Spider-man. and that time the comic art for Spidey is taking with the flow in the new and modern styles that attracts new reader and the design is kid friendly. Thats why I knew who Mike Wieringo.

as today, he joined with the force with other super heroes and artist in the comic universe.

Im a comics fan and we dont know each other, but this post will be a tribute for him and his involvement in the field of comics.

right now Wilson Tortosa made a new art for the event poster, and Im excited to see the new design and poster. we will be sending that online and printed for the 3rd Arts and Music Festival.

for info on the previous seminar you can log on to
and check some images and updates.

this year will be a bigger seminar, because its turning into a comic convention in my own image :)

Now Im crossing my finger once again for Mike Deodato, who has plans already since last year to come at the seminar.

3rd Arts and Music Festival production note 1

at last! i have made a production note dedicated for the 3rd Arts and Music Festival. The event will be next week and I invite you all to come and celebrate the life of the arts and the music.

Tomorrow will be the exhibitors briefing for all booth and sponsors, so today im doing some research and sending invitation to booth participants of Artists' Den and people of Glass House Graphics. Im making a schedule for a meeting to everyone after the briefing, I know that we discuss this online and haven't talk personally to fixed the booth and giveaway the ID's.

Ingress will be on Thursday, and right now Im not sure who will go early to decorate the booth.
I know everyone will participate.

I've invited some indie comic creators to sell and promote their comics and also our main goal is to promote our local comics at the festival, since no other comic entities are there to represent, Artists Den was chosen and today is the 2nd year of representing the arts in comics at the festival. I was hoping to invite more as we need to show outside the comic circle on where are we know in the field of comics and indie publishing.

here are some image covers of comics that will represent at the festival

also I invited Weewilldoodle, they will have a doodle space at the festival, so visit them and doodle it out! and some of their stuff will be sold at the booth too.

Art Department, a sculptor and movie props maker will join us too.

Zaido, Pulis Pangkalawakan
Zaido will have a place soon here.

My sister told me about the new working title for the local Shaider TV series for Philippine and I read some news in the net that the official title is "ZAIDO : Pulis Pangkalawakan"

sounds like Shaider or Shaido. I was hoping for a better name for their title that might be inline with the metal heroes. Hmm lets see, Shaider, Sharivan, Gavan.. hm what else? Zaido?

ok I will respect the name Zaido.

our very own Metal Heroes. According to Mukamo the series will be aired late August or early September, maybe a big rival to Lastikman's TV series next month. But I know that GMA 7 will show Zaido at its earliest before Lastikman, as I observed in some series that they have. Too bad that they didnt get Lastikman for their super hero TV series roster.

Dahan Dahan Lang blog said that Dennis Trillio will be given a big break here. he will be the male version of Annie ? (side kick of Shaider). And then Wikipedia said that the series will be inspired from Shaider and it will be a local version of it for the Philippines.

Hope they can include Zaido in the roster of Metal Heroes, just like in Shaider and other Metal Heroes. Maybe they can tie in for an episode or maybe that Zaido was sent into another world to defeat the evil forces and he landed here in Manila.

If Zaido is here, he will be a great help in the marines defeating those terrorist in Basilan.

Lastikman TV Series

Coming this September 2007.

Watch the full trailer!, I was surprised to see how they present the set designs and the full trailer is good! hmm. I will watch this and see if they can break all the visual effects. Vhong Navarro is a good fit for the character of Lastikman, for me he is a good bet for the role after Vic Sotto.
He can do all the stunts and tumbling around hahhahaa. hope they can removed those cellphone txt lingo in some dialogue, because it is not good for kids when they hear it.

hmmmm...Handa na ba me?

Darna Comics Launching 2003

Here's a video mixed I made while the internet is offline for 2 hours, I have unearthed some old videos from my external drive and then got a chance to edit and share it to everyone.

This is Mango Comics' Darna comics launching in Eastwood City, this was in March 2003. And the launching is one of the biggest comeback of Darna in comics and TV.

i like the music of the band playing, Dirty Kitchen's song "nagbago na ang mundo" or "gusto ko lumipad" really fits in the video about Darna and also about the sudden change in everything we see around.
