Leaked pilot episodes are a big thing today, because producers of the show can get early reactions and reviews from fans and critics. It happened during the planned Wonder Woman tv series, started with a big debate for the costume and also the actress, why her, why that costume, the intro sucks, that’s one of the earliest review and then the tv series folded. Then followed by the Flash tv series, it receives a good review and also good hype after it was tie up with the ongoing series Arrow, it means that different tv series but same character property can exist in one world…. which is we call the tv series universe of the DC comics tv universe.
For Supergirl tv series that soon will air on CBS this November, its another pilot episode leaked and this is not by accident or a pirate thing, maybe from the producers and CBS planned this to leaked the episode to tease the fans and also get early reviews, if its good, then CBS can order more episodes and maybe a season of the series.
I first saw the Supergirl tv series in a condensed tv trailer, its already the entire episode and we saw the flavor that comes with it. It’s a girly-mean girl-clueless-cheeky-cute-emma stone kind of thing haha. Its hard to describe for a guy, but for me, its cute and I think the tv series targets the tweens and early teens, because all we see is a young teen who want to use her super powers for the greater good. For us guys, we tried not to have a crush on Melissa Benoist…. not now… maybe next time haha.
The origin of Kara Zor-El aka Supegirl played by Melissa Benoist, is some how close from the comics version, there are lots of version because there are different worlds, for the tv series they created a good origin story for Supergirl, for the tv series Kara landed on Earth a bit late after she crossed a warp zone thing via the Phantom Zone, delaying her visit on Earth for years but appeared as it was minutes after her launch in Krypton but for Kal El aka Superman, landed on Earth few years back. Her mission is to protect and look after her baby cousin Kal El, but there's a twist of fate, Kal El now looks after Kara after her landing on Earth, but she’s not ready to face the world like Superman, so she needs to stay away a bit from Superman and live a normal life of a girl under the care of a foster parents chosen by Superman.
Its an interesting origin story, and we saw Superman finally on TV, but there’s no face, and we can see only his costume, his hair and a back view. The costume is closed to the costume worn by Henry Cavill in Man of Steel movie. And I think the timeline of this tv series took place way back after the Batman v. Superman movie. Because here in this timeline, Superman is accepted as a hero but rarely seen by many in close up photo.
Ohh don’t forget the Easter eggs… I didn’t even noticed that Kara’s foster parents is the former Supergirl in movies – Helen Slater and former Superman of TV – Dean Cain. I just learned about it when netizens reacted online after watching the leaked pilot series hahahaha. Awesome!
I will reserve myself for the next episode. I think I will watch more of this after its official run this November 2015. Im sure this might connect to a Flash or Arrow universe if the producers will let them meet in one major event..maybe they can fight a hordes of Darkseid or an alien invasion, or maybe a special of an upcoming DC Comics tv series -- Legends of Tomorrow.
Supergirl tv series is entirely cute… but I hope they wont inject a series of love story…that thing can make the series boring. Let them do more alien invasion, insert Brainiac, and lets see how Supergirl use her powers to save the planet and also how she can summon Superman when she needs help.
Im giving a rating of 7/10 because..I enjoyed watching this candy girl magazine type of series….. everyone are so you know.. beautiful.
