Finding your fix at the 7th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2008

It’s hard to imagine seven years worth of pure, unadulterated joy brought about by a shared love for things. Simple things, like a comic book, a basketball card, a plastic toy action figure, a Matchbox car or an old 80’s die-cast robot. But these vestiges of childhood are precisely what sustain our imaginations, and carry on through time as replicas of the memories we cherished growing up. These days, these toys represent more than the scratched plastic of our youth. Now, these collectibles are part of a much bigger phenomenon called “pop-culture”. And yes, the Philippines has had its share of pop-culture for the past seven years with the annual Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention, otherwise know as the Philippine Toycon.

And this year, the level of excitement has accumulated seven-fold, as fans of all things playable and collectible converge once again at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong to enjoy two days of sheer hyper pop-culture. It’s a blast of the latest toys, handheld and web games, film and animation, graphic art and design, movies, music and costume play. Mixed in are highly-anticipated events like the Philippine launch of Batman: The Dark Knight Movie and major toy company product displays like LEGO, Stikfas and Dig Deep Entertainment. And of course, the crowds all come to get their choice of thousands of different items to fill in the gaps in their collections, or to gawk at the colorful and flashy costumes meticulously prepared for Cosplay, a thrilling costume parade which is the highlight of each year’s Toycon.

Good bye to Rudy "Da boy" Fernandez

just heard the breaking news this morning in DZMM

Jinggoy Estrada confirmed the news via phone call in DZMM, and he was crying really hard.

Rudy Fernandez died this morning at around 6:35 and he died fighting cancer.

so sad to hear this, been seeing his action movie with my parents during my youngling years and I like his movies especially - Walang personalan, trabaho lang and the Eddie Fernandez movie
he's one of my fave action stars after FPJ

Az video blog - May 2008 event compilation

this is one of my new video blog projects, I'm compiling all kinds of events, activities and party that I attended for the month of May 2008, so when you view the video, you'll see different kinds of happenings that I'm involved and also I participated. I used my original digital composing of music, the title is "Stars in the box", I composed it during a Starbucks hang out months ago with Lace and her office mates.

the video is a little bit a collage of events and sorry for not editing that well. Most of the footage are from my video and photos, while others are from my friend Victor Velasco, who uses his PSP camera in shooting videos.

from my trip to Ongpin to Kitchie Nadal event to our outing in Josephines to bloggers event to comic events and anime convention, its a 6 minute short highlight on what happened in the world of pop culture..well its my take and hope I can capture the moments more.

the blog is mightier than the sword

If you didn't know yet, Jun Lozada the main star and witness of the ZTE scandal is now into blogging. Yesterday at the event of Blogger's Kapihan at the Kape Tasyo in Quezon City. It was a blog launching for Jun Lozada's blog and bloggers were invited to attend and join the open forum. I was not there to check out the blog launch and for me this is the most awaited blog for political fans and avid pinoy drama.

I'm one of those people who listened and watch the hearings on tv and radio during its first revelation to the public, and because that the issue is now less more being tackled, its a great way to go back again and think of what is happening after the big drama.

the blog of Jun Lozada is not that too much revealing, some post are more on what he believes and the philosophy he observes, he also talk about some analogy in which will help more for the country, a message for the youth and also about what he learned from our great national hero.
Jun Lozada is not Jose Rizal, but for this blog, he uses it not just to fight back, but its a blog about him and his true opinion. Its like we are reading a free Jun Lozada Ebook, and its great to see him blog and it will be better if he blog before.. the blogging Australian hit the news. But its better to be late than never. Its a great blog for Pinoy who want change for the country. And its a blog reading ground for lovers and haters of the star witness.

I might visit the blog for updates and I'm still predicting that this blog will be hot in the coming days or months. Because the first 4 post is not yet revealing, maybe Jun Lozada is avoiding the trouble of being charge with libel, but my advice is.. use codenames!
