Its fun to drive and travel, but it will be better if we follow road signs and traffic rules for road safety. BPI launched 70 road signs in one of the most visited city in the country, and I was there to witness their road safety campaign and advocacy. That me with Senior Manager Michael Anthony C. Mendoza and VP Herbert D. Tuason of BPI.

Tagaytay City is one of the most visited place here in Luzon, and people in Manila are always the top target market, because it is near from the city, cold and windy and easy to travel going there. By taking the road of SLEX going to Tagaytay City Road is the fastest way reaching the windy city of Tagaytay.
I've been driving since the age of 19 years old, and when I started holding the wheels and enter the busy road of EDSA and Caloocan City, I always put my mind into focus and be responsible in driving, I always obey traffic rules and follow road signs. When I drive outside the city and go to Quezon Province, I see that road signs and informational warning signs are very helpful in reminding us motorist and tourist to be very careful and be alert when we drive in highways, two way roads and downhill roads. This could be a part of my own advocacy that everyone should be very careful, obey traffic signs and rules, and have a safe driving, our life and peoples lives depends on us whenever we are behind the wheels.
I'm glad that Tagaytay City has lots of new road signs and informational warning signs that is been installed to strategic locations, thanks to BPI Family Auto Loan for taking the initiative in launching their new campaign and promotion of a better road safety to help us motorist. They also avoided some areas that are already have lots of signs and avoid in having a sign pollution.
"Safe Drive" campaign was launched with the help of the Local Government Unit of Tagaytay City, It is a part of their social responsibility to help educate our motorists and be remind the perils of road driving. BPI Family Saving Bank as our leader in the auto loan industry, took up this initiative not for maximizing their auto loan clients, but to help car owners to be responsible, the city to have zero accidents and the citizens to have awareness of road safety.
It's a good move for BPI to install all of these road signs and its just a start here in Tagaytay City and they are now planning to install in other part of a city and outside Luzon, as Mr. TG Limacaoco, President of BPI, said during the press conference. The campaign is not only to promote road safety, it is also a way of giving positive message of looking forward to have a stronger and safer auto industry this 2011. Our government should do something like what BPI did, private institutions are now working alone to help us to have better and safe life in or outside the road, for me, BPI is setting a good example and other private institutions should follow.
“The partnership forged between the City of Tagaytay and BPI Family Savings Bank is a wonderful example of how effective public-private partnerships are in promoting a worthy advocacy. I believe that the value created by these partnerships, such as a potentially reduced number of accidents as well as growing number of visitors in our city, are sure to last.”- TG Limacaoco, President of BPI
“BPI Family Savings Bank, through its Auto Loans Division, is fully committed to helping the country’s auto industry grow responsibly. As more Filipinos are finding it easy to own their dream cars, we want to advocate responsible car ownership and safer road conditions for them. This is just the beginning, we hope to have similar endeavors in other key areas in the country to benefit more Filipinos.” - David Sarmiento, Jr., BPI Family Savings Bank SVP and Head of Auto Loans Division
I drove again after 10 years and I'm no longer familiar with other new signs, but reading them again and understand in a split seconds after slowing down will help you get over with it and be aware of it on the next time you encounter it. I love reading road signs and its a big help for me whenever I'm lost on the road, just like what happened when I drove the Nissan Navarra with my fellow bloggers going back to SLEX, I'm not familiar with the road going back to SLEX, but road signs saves us our time and went on track going back home. With road signs or no signs, if you are not sure on what you're going to, just don't be shy to ask people nicely for directions and tell them you are lost and you need a good route going to your destination.
and again... let's obey road signs and our traffic and driving rules.
Because being responsible and safe is our road map to success.
