this resto is now closed
Sumo Sam now opens in Olympia in Makati Avenue, just beside the The Peninsula Manila and infront of the pedestrian lane going to Ayala Triangle. The new branch of Sumo Sam, this is their 25th branch, now occupies the former Roboto restaurant, I remember that I went there years ago to attend the Pupil album launching event. But today,Sumo Sam replaces the former Japanese resto and now the new branch of Sumo Sam offers daily Japanese buffet meal and wine everyday. The introductory price for the buffet meal is Php 499. Yeah...its a competitive price that will attract Japanese cuisine fans and foodies.
The buffet and eat all you can for lunch and dinner starts at 11am-2pm and 6pm-10pm. That's only for Php 499 only everyday, plus they also serve breakfast.
Here's the signage that will immortalize the buffet price hahahaha. My wife went crazy when she learned about the buffet offerings of Sumo Sam
Their new branch gave a different take and new exposure to Sumo Sam for offering buffet and unlimited sushis and makis. At the launching event, I was there to witness how they serve the food for us. All Japanese food are in a buffet style bar.
Here's a buffet set of Gyoza, Kani salad, and Ramen
Here's the gorgeous set up of makis and sushi
The bar area is so busy and make sure that the buffet is maintained well.
Dessert area... I'm not sure if this is part of the regular price, since I'm here at the event launching

Sumo Sam uses the old interiors of Roboto restaurant, they modified some parts but the iconic style is still there. Like the rainbow lit in the resto lounge area.
Sumo Sam goes big and better!
Here's the lounge dining area, perfect for dates and barkada party
Plate and chopsticks
The floor... with real live rocks under the fiberglass floor
big is better slogan....for Sumo Sam
not means that getting fat is good hahahaha
Here's a wide shot for the whole lounge dining area....lovely di ba?
Here's the fast food type table area, and also you'll see the 10,000 lightbulbs set up on the ceiling

Sumo Sam general manager - Adolf Aran Jr. welcome us for the grand opening of Sumo Sam in Olympia Makati Ave.
Hello my pretty salmons!
Here how you attack the buffet. hahahahaa. its like a war zone!!!!
My first plate, best seller for me always is the Japanese Rice of Sumo Sam
Tempura.yes..its unlimited for only Php 499.
Another view of the restaurant's dining area as you enter it.
Marvin Agustin was there to attend the grand opening, along with his business partners for Sumo Sam, they initiate a ribbon cutting like ceremony, instead of ribbons, they used a custom made giant California Maki.
The big maki is so thick and heavy...
They raise the maki and cheers for the success for another branch of Sumo Sam
I got also a shared part of the giant maki hehehehe.
When you entered the comfort room, here's what it looks like hahahahaha.. pang disco
remember that this was from the old Roboto resto.
Sumo Sam Olympia Makati Ave also offers wine for dining guest. Not part of the buffet, but I think you should buy a bottle.
Here's Sumo Sam Olympia Makati Ave at night.. with lots of glowing lights
At first, I was afraid that Sumo Sam entering the business district of Makati and infront of Hotels and land with lots of restaurant, its a risky decision to move outside the vicinity of malls and shopping centers, were large foot traffic is always expected, but standing in a middle of less foot traffic might end the business, see what happens to Roboto resto...flop!!! But I'm glad that Sumo Sam did a new version of their resto and it offers buffet food, eat all you can deals and wine for casual dining customers. The interiors from the old resto is untouched and this will add new customers and also fast food fans to check out the buffet of Sumo Sam resto in Olympia. This will be a start of a new trend in restaurant. Congrats again Sumo Sam!
