San Miguel Beer Oktoberfest kick off party and Third Eye Blind

I was great last night, we enjoyed the whole night listening to live rock music, drinking some beer and witness that the Philippines got another world record for having the longest beer bar and thanks to all pinoys who went there and participated in the event, Congratulations to San Miguel Beer...super thank you and more power!

we really enjoyed the event, even that the whole area is super crowded, if traffic jams has a term for bumper to bumper, while here at the event has a term of elbow to elbow, I just can't estimate how many people went inside the beer event, just to enjoy the overflowing of beer and also watch 40 pinoy rock bands and also Third Eye Blind,which is their first visit and performance here in our country.

After our short assembly in Mcdonalds El Pueblo, I just grabbed my media ID from our team leader and then after a quick meal, we just loaded all our cameras, ready our laptops and headed to the main entrance of the Oktoberfest kick off party.

The venue is very long, I just can't believe it, we just walk all the way from the middle of the area, up to the entrance, which is near Richmonde Hotel, and then we saw a lot of people crowding in every corner, buying tickets and lining up to enter the longest beer bar, then bouncers and security always check up the people and assigned them to move away the streets. I'm very glad that there is a special entrance for VIP and media people, so me, RG and JP, went there using the special entrance, while some of other teams were outside and got late before the main event started.

we saw the longest bar, and it was the most impossible thing to see, but hey! we did it and we got the world record. People enjoyed ordering the beer and food from the bar, then while walking its almost past 7pm and many people got drink a lot of beer already, saw their plastic cups been played on top of their table forming a pyramid ahhahaha. then we passed and got stuck in the Pop Alternative stage, which is in time to catch Sugarfree performed live, love to see them live on stage, I enjoy all their songs and music and Ebe (vocals) seems to enjoy the event, drinking while singing hahaahha. I guess he is already drunk..

then after a 4 songs, we decided to boot out and proceed to our target, - the main stage. Then we saw some booths of basketball and billiards, you can play there and also challenge some professional players, but I'm not sure if they are in there, because its already the peak of the event and everyone are enjoying the beer and also the event. We crossed the Reggae stage, we just caught one last song from a reggae band, too bad that I didm't got any photo, but their performance was hot and they said that the songs will make the evening look like a summer.. astig!

then we reached the middle of the area and we got ourselves lock in at the media area, we stayed there to eat some food and drink some beer, we hear Rivermaya playing in the main stage, there we decided to make our plan, after eating.. we must go ahead to the front of the stage for a better view and a nice place to shoot photos, there we met our co-blogger friends who were there too to cover the event and will be posted later on to their blogs.

the crowd went wild already when Rivermaya played some hits,then the crowd already making some weird movements like dancing, running and playing with the music. The bouncers got into panic and tried to secure that the barricade will not break. Wow they did a great job and it always amazes, it is scary sometimes to see a big crowd and I'm very alert in observing everything and just to be ready whenever the barricade breaks up, a big stampede will occur,but I'm glad that we are safe and the barricade stood still. The barricade is for a division of the general admission and VIP at the event.

then we heard that the barricade will be removed and let people get in before the big main event, so the caterer and other bloggers and media went out of the media area and transferred to the main stage area. Then I got into a panic because I'm very scared for a big crowd to walk over, I called Lace to come over and meet me at the media area entrance, then it was a success, we got in all together and smooth, and also glad that the opening of the barricade is smooth and no accident happens.

then I got a text from my blogger team who were late and now having problems getting in the venue, they said that the entrance was closed down due to heavy traffic of people and I guess they did that to control the flow of people.

then after a couple of songs of Rivermaya, they just did a big countdown having Ramon Ang of SMC and Mayor Benhur Abalos of Mandaluyong City, initiates the opening of the giant beer barrel and then it was officially launched and more fireworks pop out in the sky.

After Rivermaya, there's this beer drinking game, and then I joined in substitute for one of the host, and there I got a head to head drinking beer race with Derek Ramsey, actor and host of the event, but I got into a massive adrenaline rush, because I haven't joined any beer drinking contest in my entire life, and this is my first, and also first time downing a Pale Pilsen in seconds..and wow! I did it.... but I got 8 seconds late and Derek finished it off and my team followed. We lost the race, but it's okay,we took home a San Miguel cap as a consolation prizes, and wow! saw Third Eye blind in the back stage wohoohoh.

after that, Bloomfield performed with classic music like the Beatles and other local pinoy classic love songs. then Out of the body special performed with the Planet Zips, zipping with fire and flames and it was hot, but lovely to see them now doing a real fire zips. And then after the performance, everyone is now screaming "Third Eye Blind" , then after a few host talk and stage games. the band Third Eye blind showed up and played their hits like Semi charmed of life, Graduate, Blinded, Losing a whole year, Jumper, Anything, Deep inside of you and many more.

They also played 3 new songs, and they just announced that they are now recording for their 4th album and they just flew to the Philippines after recording some new songs. It was a great musical performance and they just said that it was their first time here,, and they just wished that they had perform here years ago and promised that they will be back.

the crowd really went wild when the band played their hits, the guest bands behind us were enjoying the show and mentioned that they really want to cry. Then the show ended, the band left the stage and then people are shouting "more! more!", then many people left the area, but I just told RG that the show isn't over because they haven't dismantle all the guitar and equipments, then the tech man went on stage and did another sound check, many people was shocked and screamed, they want back on stage and played two more songs.

it was a great show! and it is only a gig!!! the appearance and live performance of Third Eye Blind is not listed in their official website www.3eb.com, and no mention that they will be here in Manila, and not listed as a concert or tour. ahhahaha. it was great! San Miguel really pulled this and it was a total success. Congrats again and many thanks!!!!! I'm now excited on what will be for next year.
