Here's my video coverage
Manila, Philippines - October 30, 2008
We we’re at my favorite Krispy Kreme branch, and for me the Bonifacio High Street branch is the best. I usually hang out there everytime when I’m in Boni High, not just by enjoying their free wifi, but also enjoy the cappuccino and doughnut, it’s the best partner for my meal having a hot drink, much some sweets and surf the world wide web. I’m glad that they now attached a electric plug in some of the seats, and the place is very neat and comfortable. ( read more below) Spot.ph and Krispy Kreme ( KK) invited us to have a short factory tour inside their doughnut making facility and also had a Spot.ph community members meet up after the tour. I arrived late and missed the trivia games and other talks about Krispy Kreme, but I’m glad that I made it to the factory tour and just missed a little introduction, one of the manager gave me a paper KK hat and I entered their mini factory and saw my blogger friends who are already busy taking photos and talking to one of the staff who tour us around the facility, I just saw how they made their doughnuts and how they maintain the sizes of it and their secret machine that molds everything in it. Its cute to see the doughnuts and they are treated like babies, they have this doughnut nursery, were they check and see if there is a bad mold and shape. And afterwards all the rejected molds will be discarded, repacked and will be given to the less fortunate people. I just confirmed it last night with Lace’s sister, after she told me that KK usually sponsors their community outreach program and send lots of KK doughnuts, all in various flavors to orphans. It was a great news for me, and since other doughnut store usually throw away those rejects and unsold food everyday, I used to save one or two doughnut in the past whenever I visit one establishment. But today, KK do the work..save the doughnut..save the world :)
The mini factory is open 24 hours a day, and it serves the small branches in Metro Manila, that includes the Megamall branch. There are 2 more factories in the city, that is in SM MOA and in Greenhills, haven’t been there yet, but maybe I can visit and check out the SM MOA branch, because I used to pass by infront whenever I’m in SM MOA.
I just heard from Jonel, that one of the marketing manager of KK said that there will be more KK branches will open in some of the malls, and that includes Galeria and Glorietta. After the tour we got a talk with everyone and learn more about Spot.ph and fellow members.
The big goodie is that, we took home each one box of KK doughnuts and me just grabbed that brewed coffee container and brought it with me going back to Podium ahahahaa.
Thanks to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Spot.ph for a wonderful and educational event about doughnuts.
