Wee Nam Kee–The District Imus, Cavite

Wee Name Kee at The District Imus Cavite
Me and my wife are happy to know that there are good restos opening here in Cavite, one of the best resto is Wee Nam Kee , they opened a new branch at The District in Imus, Cavite, its just 15 minute bus or jeep ride from my location and I’m happy that I found a new food hub here in our town.

I heard of Wee Name Kee from a fellow food blogger after he invited us to try Wee Nam Kee’s 1st ever branch in Ayala Triangle years ago when they opened for the public. I didn’t got the chance to try Wee Nam Kee in regular schedule because its always full of customers and my date won’t like to wait to be seated. They say that this resto is originally from Singapore..Wow!!

Here in Imus, Cavite, we finally got our chance to try Wee Nam Kee and I’m surprised that they opened up here in our area and we just been to The District few weeks ago and I didn’t even noticed the sign that they will open soon.

As we enter the resto, we were welcomed by some kind of oriental chimes music, staring at well light ceiling and a nice bird cage lamp hanging. It’s a beauty inside Wee Nam Kee, but its just the interior and our main agenda here is that if our tummy and taste buds will be satisfied.

I grabbed the menu and here I got a little trivia about Wee Nam Kee and their famous Hainanese Chicken. And now I know that Wee Nam Kee is a name of a person.

The price is okay and I’m very comfortable for a resto with the right pricing and we know that it came from SG, so I expected that the taste is good and that’s what we’re here for.

I’ve tried Hainanese chicken before in other food establishments, from my 1st encounter of that chicken, I didn’t know that I have to dip the chicken into that ginger sauce. But here in Wee Nam Kee, I got excited to see this three kind of sauce on our table – chili, garlic and sweet sauce.

Fresh Barley Juice (Php 55)
Lace ordered this Barley drink, its like a rice in a juice, tastes like Buko juice but much more creamier.
Sweet and sticky, I think this is a good thirst quencher.

Tiger beer (Php 130)
I ordered a bottle of Tiger beer, it got only a low alcohol content, that’s why its okay to drink this during meals.

Hong Kong Style Fried Noodles (Php 275)
This order can accommodate up to 3 persons, its plenty for the two of us and its loaded with lots of seafood, veggies and tasty noodles with sauce.

Wee Nam Kee Fried Rice (Php 190)
Serving is good for 2 persons, its like Yangchow rice but without the aroma. I still like the Yangchow better, but the WNK version is not wet and perfectly dried for a fried rice.

Cereal Prawns (Php 395) 4 pcs
The people we know who love WNK always recommend this food to us, my wife ordered this and its like a tempura that came from another dimension hahahah. It’s a prawn cooked and covered with cereals. Its tasty and crunchy and I love to scoop the remaining crubs when the prawns are done. Best to eat this with a dip of ginger and sweet sauce.

BBQ Pork Asado (Php 220)
I’m a porky lover and I always require to have meat in our table, the asado is so special here in WNK, one of the tastiest, best to eat it with a dip in ginger and sweet sauce with chili.

Combination of Steamed and Roasted Chicken (Php 488 )
And sympre, if you are in WNK, you have to order a Hainanese chicken because this is their specialty, as usual, its best to eat this with a dip of ginger, sweet sauce and chili. My tip here is that you mix the three sauce in a small “sawsawan” and dip the chicken there. You can refill anytime when you ran out of dip. The ginger sauce is a must try to the chicken. Also the roasted chicken is good, feels like I’m eating a peking duck.

Stir Fried Clam in Spicy Sauce (Php 280 )
Of all the food here in WNK, this clam soup in spicy sauce is my favorite. I don’t know why…but the taste and spicyness is just right for me. I know I’m a mollusk addict, but I only experience eating clams is in restaurants only. You can request if you want more chilly effect to your clam soup.

It’s a delightful treat for me to have a Tiger beer as my eating partner. The ginger and the sauce helped my taste buds to reach the tastiest level, its so weird that the ginger will power up your appetite and the beer to smoothen the food in your throat and belly. it’s a perfect marriage for the food - ginger+beer.
