I am always amazed by the new ventures that utilize a new model of business or a company that launches a new product or service that is innovative and a game changer. A new idea that can become the next big thing with the help of investors and collaborations. I was fortunate enough to attend a press conference of the largest tech conference in the Philippines called the Techtonic Summit 2018 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas.
Techtonic Summit 2018 is the place to be if you’re a person who's interested in launching your own startup, looking for startup to invest, finding support through government/corporations, or you you just want to learn and network in the 2 day (June 22 to 23) event at SMX Convention Center.
This year’s powerhouse guests and speakers includes Senator Loren B.Legarda; Senator Paolo Benigno 'Bam' Aquino IV; Jeffrey Paine, Managing Partner of Golden Gate Ventures, a Southeast Asian Venture Capital Fund; John Rubio, Country Manager of Facebook Philippines; Marcus Tan, Co-founder and President of Carousell, a mobile and online consumer to consumer marketplace; and Constantin Robertz, Managing Director of Zalora Philippines.
A competition called the ‘Ring of Fire’ for the top 20 startups will happen and just like the TV show Shark Tank, these 20 startups will sell their business idea to a panel of judges from venture capital firms across Asia. The winning pitch will have exclusive mentorship and 10,000 US dollars to ignite their startup!
“So why Techtonic again this year? Because our goal was to really help our startups and the theme this year is disrupting Southeast Asia. We believe that it's about time that Philippines would compete with our Southeast Asian neighbor so if we can open this to our Southeast Asian neighbor as well in terms of innovation and technology and our goal is to make it really the biggest hopefully in Asia.” said Mys Sandico of PMCM Events Management and Event Director of Techtonic Summit 2018.
