2nd Animahenasyon 2008: Pinoy Animation Festival

I was invited by the Animation Council of the Philippines for their annual festival, and saw that they have a Animation congress and master class for this year. I know that I' m already rusty in creating flash animations, but sometimes I use some of those animation concepts and knowledge in some other way, or maybe I can go back animating stuff again for video blogs or ads for my events. I miss making animating objects and I like to share here some infos I got from them.

I received the invitation weeks ago, but I almost forgot to send a reply and give interest for this, and I told them that I'm participating in one of their class, I just hope that there will be no conflict in my schedules, but one of the initial info I got is that they have a schedule of a class by Hans Bacher and Lucasfilm animation expert ( i don't know who it is), but I just received another 2nd email containing the final list of the festival and also the schedules of the master class, but then no Hans Bacher or Lucasfilm in the final schedule, but its okay, they have Mr. Taku Furukawa , a Japanese anime animator, who has his own master class on the same event.

ok here are some infos and schedules, if you are interested feel free to contact their office for seat reservations. click the link below to read more.

Profiles of Masterclasses Experts

Mr. Hardy Gambo
Hardy Gamboa has 16 years of extensive experience in the field of animation, He worked as animator for Fil-Cartoons, Toon City and ABS CBN. He has also worked for Rocket Fish Malaysia, a Terry Thoren studio both as a Flash animation trainer and as a Flash animation director. At present, he is working as a flash animation trainer and director for the Creative Media and Film Society of the Philippines (CREAM), and as an animation director for Jin Keehsan Productions. Mr. Gamboa is also an instructor of 2D production (Flash animation for television) and basic Flash at the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, SChool of Design and Arts.

Mr. Taku Furukawa
Taku Furukawa comes from Japan and brings his animation expertise to the country. He was originally drawn to manga after graduating from college with a major in Spanish language from Osaka University of Foreign Language due to his fondness for Steinberg and Tezuka. However, his career path was eventually redirected to animation upon seeing the stylish animated TV ads by Ryohei Yanagihara and Makoto Wada. Later on, his encounter with the mature experimental films shown at the Animation Sannin no Kai finally led him to the world of animation.

Taku Furukawa had done some part-time work for TCJ on TV anime like Tetsujin 28 while studying at college. He says he had fun with the show, even drawing himself into a scene where a crowd is running from Tetsujin, but it was helping out various independent animators including Yoji Kuri upon graduation that laid the foundation of his own independent approach.

After a few years of apprenticeship, it was while still working at Yoji Kuri's Jikken Kobo studio that Furukawa had the chance to write, direct and animate his very first film, Akatombo (Red dragonfly), which was premiered in 1966 at the third annual Animation Festival. Furukawa has since produced more than 20 short films that he animates entirely by himself at his private studio, Takun-Box Co., Ltd. It was founded in 1970 and is funded largely through his work as an illustrator.

Taku Furukawa's films have also won numerous prizes around the world including the special jury's prize at Annecy. He has also published many cartoon collections in different Japanese publications, picture books for kids, and did several one-man exhibitions in various galleries in Japan.

Moreover, he has left behind a large body of animated TV ads and shorts for Minna no Uta. This year he was awarded the Purple Ribbon for lifetime achievement by the Prime Minister. A DVD of his complete works until 1995 entitled Takun-Films was issued by Anido in 1998.
