This is my Visita Iglesia series of blog post on a tour I attended few weeks ago and will post 8 churches we visited in southern part of Cebu, Philippines. The tour was organized by Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort and Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort.
San Isidro Labrador (San Fernando)
It is my first time to attend a Visita Iglesia, although that it was only a simulation of the real Visit Iglesia with prayer and rosary, but here in our tour is that we learned so much about history of the place and also the church. My big discovery is that old churches were used as fortress and hiding place of civilians during the war. We visited first San Isidro Labrador Church (San Fernando), a few hours land travel from Cebu City, the church was built during the late 1800's and according to the parish priest I interviewed inside the church went under renovation and the facade got widened, they celebrate the feast of San Isidro Labrador on the month of May.
