Few days ago, I featured Mercure Hotel Manila Ortigas here in my blog, you can check out the room tour of this new French hotel here in my post (a room tour at Mercure Hotel Manila Ortigas)
And today, let me share to you the food offered by their in-house restaurant - Kalesa restaurant, a kind of restaurant that offers modern and traditional Filipino cuisine.(and also some foreign dish)
Kalesa restaurant is located at the 3rd floor of the hotel. You can access it via elevator or the stairs.
The most attractive view here is the see through glass wall of the restaurant, which allow natural light to pass through and give a warm setting inside the restaurant.
The restaurant serve breakfast buffet for hotel guest and walk ins, and also offers ala carte meals.
There's a dining area and a small room that can cater a much private setting or use it for events.
There's also a bar nearby that you can order your liquor or cocktails.
Nice table setting and dining fixtures
Thanks to Mercure Hotel Manila Ortigas for this food tasting session. I'm happy with the dining experience because it made me preach that they really offer great food.
Food recipes are hand prepared by a Kapampangan executive chef, Chef Pat, which I gave a thumbs up for bringing their heirloom recipe here at Kalesa.
here's the menu
Featured first here in my blog post are the food at the breakfast buffet
Kakanin of different kinds
More fresh juice with lots of vitamins kick
Fresh egg corner
their bacons are so big!!!
My breakfast plate!
Normally breakfast buffet cost a thousand or less, per person. It actually comes free if you book a room with breakfast buffet, but if you book a room without breakfast, expect a slash off PHP1,000 in your normal room rate.
Here are the ala carte food at Kalesa
Seafood salad roll
Seafood salad roll is good, its so fresh and the mango drizzles went well with the taste
Sesame crusted seared tuna tataki
Php 400 Another mouth explosive Japanese food, its tasty and heavy, I just wish my wife was with me when I tried this because she loves Japanese food
Kalesa house salad
Eggs Benedict sandwich
When I heard they have Eggs Benedict, I got curious for what will be there version, so here it is...
OMG I like the oozing egg yolk and cheesy flavor.
Lechon kawali con chorizo sisig
Best paired with rice.... Im a bit careful of eating sisig, especially the porky ones, because my tummy can't digest it properly. But Im glad that they mixed the lechon kawali with chorizo, so I expected a much more crunchy and soft meat for my sisig.
US short plate roast beef kare kare
Php 785 Their kare kare is the best!!!!! the best kare kare here in Ortigas if I may proclaim. The taste is very authentic, thanks to chef Pat for the magical touch of cooking this beef.
Char-grilled spatchcook chicken with lemongras cajun spice rub
Php 940 I guess this is the holy grail here in Kalesa. The dish is an Instagramish kind
Just like a shawarma, you take some meat and wrap it with a hot pita bread and then dip it in a cajun sauce. I guess this is a best food for your Friday beer night.
Oh I took a pic of Enzo;s taho hahahah
Buko pandan panna cotta
Suman latik and mango flambe with vanilla ice cream
Php 310 Recipe was from another supplier, but I can say that this is the most recommended dessert here in Kalesa. The suman latik can wake up your Filipino spirit!!! because of its soft and sticky texture and then added by sweetness.
Kudos to the kitchen team of Kalesa restaurant, headed by Chef Pat.
