TFU Wave 5 sighted in Christmas ToyCon
Christmas is definitely in the air for Transformers fans when Patricks Toys shop sells some new and hot Transformers Universe Wave five figures in the recent Christmas ToyCon Day 1 last night.

Jaycee of Transformers Philippines just told me that he saw sought after TFU deluxe and voyager class figures in Patrick's booth, so I went there and saw Cyclonus, Cheetor, Hound, G1 Color Starscream deluxes and a voyager Inferno figures. I almost tempted in getting a Cyclonus figure but I resisted knowing I already spent too much on my toys I bought yesterday (I'l tell the details later on). - by Heer0san

Dayo sa mundo ng Elementalia - my movie review
Dayo sa mundo ng Elementalia will soar high in all theaters on December 25, 2008

I used to watch movies of Ramon Revilla as the agimat clad hero and the Pedro Penduko movies which starred Ramon Zamora, Panday movies of FPJ and other fantasy-magical movies from Wansapanataym to Never ending story. Its all about an individual being teleported in another world and do something heroic or fight evil for the good of mankind. It was a big deal for me because I grew up with it, and because of those movies, I got now a big interest about magical creatures, elemental warriors and the paranormal entities. But for Dayo sa mundo ng Elementalia, its my first time to watch and see a full length digital animation that focuses on our Filipino mythological creatures and story, and it was like that Im being transported back to the 80's, well I'm an 80's kid also called a Martial Law babies, and I got hooked on being a kid again, with having these adventures and play myself as a hero.

The Dayo sa mundo ng Elementalia is the new time capsule for the younger generations today, this movie will stick to the memory bank of all kids and adults who will see the movie. An adventure that everyone will sure enjoy and also grab the feel of being a Filipino. The movie contents from the background and theme is all Filipino, so if you watch it, you'll notice a lot of pop culture stuff that can be found everywhere like jeeps, giant fork display from your lola's house, the last supper painting, the ordinary apartment type, malls, theme parks and many more. Cutting Edge Productions, the maker of the film, really did a good research on how to embed those Filipino elements and theme for the movie, you won't get bored watching it because you'll see a lot of things that will remind you of being a Filipino. Dayo is a great masterpiece, and its one of the 1st animated film that will be imported soon outside the country and will be viewed in foreign film festival as the Cutting Edge Productions marketing people, Jinky Salvador, said to me during our early talks.
(read more below )

If you are more on the technical side, you will never avoid on noticing all the animation styles and glitches or some funny techniques being used for Dayo, we got surprised a stunning cel shaded animation technique blended by 3D backgrounds. But at the very start of the film, your eyes will be seeing lots of full colors as the story goes for more character developments, you'll won't feel dizzy watching it because you will be entertained by funny scenes and dialogues. Also best part it is that it was treated by Technicolor and Dolby 7.1 surround sound.

The music arrangement, scoring and theme song gave another points and feel for viewers, it matches the visual and good phasing of each scene, the Lipad theme song that is performed by Lea Salonga and Roots of Nature is used in one of the scenes and left us a teary eye moment and will hook every viewers attention. Also I got amazed to see that Hannibal Ibarra is involved in making the background design of the film, and my friend Randy Valiente is included also in the production!!! bow to you guys...

My favorite scene in the movie is all the characters cuteness and comedy part, although that the character introduction and development for the viewer will take long, but you'll enjoy looking in all of their movements and pose, not like any other animation, the character moves even the scene view zooms out. And its fun to see them move. But my favorite characters are Anna, Narsi and Hal-al, the villain monster character design and CGI treatment is great and I like it. I just hope that they put the character in many scenes.

Dayo is having a remarkable first step again in lifting the animation industry in the Philippines, and I just talked to Grace Dimaraan,President of the Animation Council of the Philippines, and she said that this is the final test and we will see if the movie will take us back on the next step, and having an original content like Dayo, will might open up new opportunities to our local studios in the country. Then I got a talk with Mr. Nestor Palabrica, General Manager of Toei Animation Manila office, he shared to me that all the hard works will pay off, and He believes that everyone will support it because it is done by Filipinos. I got a talk with ( you see that I'm a chatty person hahaha) also to Jesse Lasaten, executvie producer of Dayo, he shared that this is the moment of truth and he is more excited to see the film be available in all theaters. And finally Dayo director Robert Quilao answered my wish list for Dayo, and he gave me a short note that a possible sequel will be planned soon, ( got a chat with him after the premiere)
The premiere night is like a big family reunion, attended by the cast members, the production crew and staff, the studio, friends, family, partners and sponsors, media supporters and of course us bloggers who were there also to help in promotion of the movie in the blogosphere, and I'm very happy that we got thank during director Robert's speech, and at the end of the film, I told him that I got a little teary eyed after the film, because I feel that we bloggers are part of the production because of the bloggers coverage we did for Dayo and director Robert said that "you bloggers are part of the production team and thank you all for supporting and helping us", I got teary again and said to! we are being part of history.

I'm a little bit shock and having a massive hang over, but all I can say is that Dayo sa mundo ng Elementalia is one of the best animated feature in the film history of the Philippines, although we can't say it as it is the perfect film ,but this is the first of the many of future animated movies done by Pinoys. But first of all, I'm excited for the DVD release next year hahahaa.

a big Congratulations to Cutting Edge Productions, all cast, all members, all staff and supporters.. you guys rock!!!!! astig!

‘Dayo’ gets Grade A from Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB)

“Dayo sa Mundo ng Elementalia,” the Philippines’ first all-digital, full-length animated film entry to the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), has received a grade of A from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) when it was reviewed yesterday (Dec. 18), a day prior to its red carpet premiere at SM Megamall Cinema 10. This merits a 100 percent rebate on amusement tax for the animated feature produced by Cutting Edge Productions.

The CEB, which operates under the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), grants tax rebates to well-crafted local films. ( read more below)

“Dayo,” which is also being endorsed by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT), follows the adventure of Bubuy (voiced by Nash Aguas), an 11-year-old boy from Antipolo, who takes on a journey to save his beloved grandparents abducted into Elementalia—a fantasy land thriving with strange flora and fauna and home to several enchanted creatures of Philippine mythology.

Bubuy meets Anna (voiced by Katrina Legaspi), a young and energetic manananggal (a winged creature that can separate her torso from her lower body) with a special fondness for all things human, except to eat them. The two live out an adventure full of wild, will-testing and comical experiences all over Elementalia—from an enormous lake heaving with gravity-defying merfolk to the breathtaking crystal cave dwelled by colorful alitubi (a cross between a firefly and dragonfly) to a magnificent old tree that is home to a motherly kapre (a sort of big ogre who lives on trees and smokes cigars) and finally to a majestic mountain protected by a big pack of hungry aswangs (shape-shifting creatures).
"Dayo" is a hybrid product of combining 2D and 3D animation, powered by Toon Boom using Macintosh and Linux platforms. 2D animation is used for the characters while 3D animation is used for the backgrounds especially for the big scenes.

At an estimated production budget of USD 1.3 million, “Dayo” is produced in Dolby 7.1 surround sound. The team behind “Dayo,” led by its executive producer Jessie Lasaten and director Robert Quilao, has collaborated with Technicolor in Thailand for its post- production.

The soundtrack of “Dayo” highlights the world-renowned Filipino performer Lea Salonga of her rendition of the movie theme song “Lipad.” Her performance and the entire musical score by Lasaten were recorded together with the FILharmoniKA under the baton of Gerard Salonga.

Apart from Aguas and Legaspi, the film features the voices of Pokwang (Vicky), Michael V (Narsi), Noel Trinidad (Lolo Meong), Nova Villa (Lola Nita), Johnny Delgado (Carpio), Peque Gallaga (Nano), Laurice Guillen (Diwata/Bruha), Gabe Mercado (Jo) and Pocholo Gonzales (Toti). Temi Abad, Jr. and Eric Cabahug team up for its screenplay.

The film is rated G or GP (General Patronage) by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

“Dayo” supports the Cancer Warrior Foundation as its beneficiary.

3rd Toys and Collectibles Christmas Fair 2008 - DAY 1 photo coverage everywhere..yay!

I just arrived late and got stuck in the traffic in the middle of the metro, but all of my suffering under the heat and traffic pays off after I arrived inside our event, 3rd Toys and Collectibles Christmas Fair 2008, I was greeted by the Manila Toys and Gift Show organizers and I have told them that I arrived late ahhah, but then my comrades are there and told me to help them in the live collectibles auction. Cholo hosted the auction and some of the part of the auction is hosted by me, and because that I need to fix something in my booth, I left for a moment and meet my sister at the event to have a quick lunch. Then I went back inside the event and saw lots of items for the auction. ( read more below)

I just scored a Transformers Real Gear toy for P150 only, its a good grab alright and it looks cute, many people scored lots of stuff in the auction show, like Justice comics issue 1-12 for only P1200, Harry Potter 18 inch figure for P900, Elvis figure for P900, Long Shot Marvel Legends for P400, X-men Evolution TPB for P200, Spider-Woman hardbound comics for P400, Star Wars Episode 1 4-set mugs for P800, Peter Jackson LOTR figure with Pikachu for P400. and many more items....
The toys and collectibles bazaar really heats up on the 1st day, and many toy collectors, hobbyist and gift buyers visited the event and everyone knows that every year that the day 1 of the event is a great time to buy hard to finds and good deal items. I just scored this P100 Lyn Min May figure, ahhaha its funny that I was planning to grab this Sakura Kinomoto in bathing suit but it turns out that it is very disturbing for me haahaha, so I left it and grab the Min may figure, then at the end of the event, Mark Santos of Robot Pilipinas told me that Patrick Toys is selling a Transformers Universe Hound, which is the most part of the toyline I've been waiting, so I didn't think twice and bought it for only P900,and then Jaycee of Transformers Philippines told me that the TFU Hound is in Wave 5 series, and it will take long for the Philippines to have a stock next year, because wave 4 series is not yet available here and it should arrive first before Wave 5, then I got my joy joy happy happy moment and bought it and took it home hhhahha, then Mark Cerbo of Transformers Philippines went there fresh from the FHM signing event bought the same toy. Mark Santos scored a Starscream master piece collection for P2300, and bought some revoltech toys, our friend Martin, writer of Playground magazine, scored some cool GI JOE stuff and I envied him for grabbing an Optimus Prime premium for only P999 at a nearby mall ahhaha.

It was a great day for us toy fans...and also our tshirt sales made by Geekerie shirt, is selling pretty well, many will be visiting the booth later and many are interested on that blue screen of death tshirt ahahaha.

now round 2 or day 2 of 3rd Toys and Collectibles Christmas Fair 2008... its cosplay time at 3:00pm and catwalk show at 4:00pm. it will be a tough day for me, because I'll be managing the production with my team.. so good luck to us all.
