e-Services 2009 (Game Development Creative E-Services Track)


Me with the people of Veritas Development, our local team behind the all Filipino made online fighting game "BangĂș-Bang Mania!"

I'm at the day 1 of the 9th e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition 2009 here at the SMX convention center in SM Mall of Asia. I arrived a late and missed our President's talk and speech from the event, but just caught the conference talks starting 1:00pm, I will be posting the coverage of the panel talk about "Leading Edge in Global Sourcing" on the next coverage.

on the day 2, that will be hours away from now. I will try to come in and check out the panel talks about Game Development that will be held inside Meeting Room 2. The talks will start at 8:45 AM and I'll try to wrapped myself up at 11:35 PM. I just found some interesting guest speakers who will spearhead lots of interesting topics about Game Development.

Mr. Chris Avellone
Co-Founder and Creative Director
Obsidian Entertainment

He is Creative Director and Co-Founder of Obsidian Entertainment, an international games development company. He was responsible for building brand new RPG game studio and creating some of the award-winning RPG. He was lead designer for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Alpha Protocol.


Global Trends in Game Development will be discussed by Mr. Chris Avellone, while the panel discussions on "What's hot in Gaming" will be discussed by Mr. Vincent Ricot (Gameloft), Peter Paul Gaddi (Exist Global), Chris Avellone ( Obisdian Ent.), and it will be moderated by Gabby Dizn of GDAP.

Mr. Darrell Benvenuto

Collision Studios

He is the co-founder of Collision Studios, a software development firm with cross-platform experience. He has published books, comics and produced 2D and 3D animation including pilot episodes of Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer. He also worked with major motion pictures including films “300” (Warner Brothers) and “Jumper” (Fox). His games development company maintains studios in Los Angeles and the Philippines.

He recently spun a second firm called Digital Octane handling testing and games development in the Philippines.

Video Game Production and Outsourcing will be explained and discussed by Darrell Benvenuto, it's about the in-depth view of game development and outsourcing presenting the functions of a development team, what each discipline within the team contributes to the project and which of these elements outsouced.

Mr. Philippe Erwin
Chief Executive Officer
Collision Studios

He has 15 years working in the video games development industry. He currently serves as CEO of Collision Studios, an established video games developer with expertise in multiple platforms, including Xbox 360, Wii, DS, PSP, iPhone, and PC platforms. Under his term, the company has successfully launched video games based on films and television franchises from Warner Brothers, Fox Studios, and Cartoon Network.

He was former manager of the video games services division at SDI Media, the world’s leading provider of localization services to the entertainment industry with offices in 31 countries. Under his management, SDI acquired high profile clients such as Electronic Arts, Disney Interactive, Sega, and Nokia to name a few.

He has also served as senior executive at Warner Brothers responsible for video game publishing of franchises such as Harry Potter, The Matrix, Batman, Justice League, Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes, and Cartoon Network.

The Business of Game Development will be discussed by Mr. Philippe Erwin, the talk will be about the state of the game development industry and discussion on the current gaming platforms, the way publishers and developers work together, development budgets, licenses and how Hollywood deals and games are linked.


Mr. Peter Paul Gaddi

Paul Gadi was previously the Chief Technology Officer of Anino Games and at Anino Mobile, the mobile games development arm of Anino Games. Paul has been in the game development industry since 2004, when he started working as part-time level and concept designer for CSP-Mobile, a mobile game developer based in Germany. After that, he worked as developer and designer for PLDT on several games including Astig Fighter, Gearbox Puzzle Party, Power Hoops and Anito: Tersiago’s Wrath (for Anino Mobile). It was after his work on Anito: Tersiago’s Wrath when Paul eventually joined Anino Mobile and Anino Games. Paul graduated BS Computer Science from the University of the Philippines and has an MA on Technology Management also from the University of the Philippines.
