Alodia mini Fans day production note 2

Xandra did a design on the event shirt that will be provided for the volunteer staff and organizers, I just joked on RG that I won't be wearing this shirt ahahhahah. I just said that in the field as an organizer I just want to be wearing the same shirt, and they might mistaken me as a volunteer staff, but then I heard that Xandra will create a shirt for organizers, but I told them its okay and I still won't wear the shirt for the event. The design is create and cute. I'm wondering, will it be available in white shirt? hahahaha. (oppss)

It is already the end of the 1st week period, and we are all set and waiting for the big clock to April 4, 2009. I'm still waiting for the floor layout and its hard to visualize what will be the look of the fans day venue.. I haven't created a floor layout in my Google Sketch up, but I will provide a draft sample maybe on Sunday and share it to my group.

The fans day event is very controversial in the past days, and I think more controversial in every other day, but I'm glad that it stopped for awhile and hope everyone can understand that this event is organized by the fan club members and not by Alodia. Its the fan's decision to make one, so don't make fun of it, or laugh at it, because this event is for them only.

8th Philippine Toy Con 2009 production note 4

few weeks ago, we just decided and finalized what will be our movie theme for this year's Toy Con 2009, and it looks like that Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen and GI Joe : Rise of Cobra will be our main movie theme for this year. We are also cropping out some new ideas and try to do a toy theme or a pop culture theme for the event. I'm being cool that night and just left in front of the table listening to our upcoming event partners, me and my colleagues are doing their part and I'm just waiting for the wrapped up of the meeting, so that I can talk now and show some concerns about the event, you see that I don't want to happen those bad things last year and I'm glad that my group already learned a big lesson, and there's already no need for me to talk and remind it to them, because we discussed some things that went wrong last year that needed to be avoided and make a solution for it.

On the other end of the discussions, we just closed our meeting and included Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in our movie theme line up. I'm already getting crazy from it and sounds like a big bang event is coming this June 13-14, 2009.

Btw, check out the Harry Potter poster below. hmm. I'm still wondering what will be our TV theme for this year.hmm Sanlakas?? not sure about it, but I'll let our tv partner decide it.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - 6 character poster banners

Warner Bros. unveils the official banners for the highly anticipated “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” due to open across the Philippines on July 16, with a first-look feature here at

The banners highlight six characters that major prominently in the sixth installment of the blockbuster series: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Voldemort and Snape.

In “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Heyday Films production, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” David Yates, who directed last year’s summer blockbuster “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” returns to direct “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” David Heyman and David Barron are the producers, with Lionel Wigram serving as executive producer. Steve Kloves wrote the screenplay, based on the book by J.K. Rowling.

Monsters Vs. Aliens IMAX 3D movie review and the movie bloggers
I'm hanging out with my new friends, and yes.. they are monsters!

Thanks to SM Mall of Asia and SM Cinema for inviting us to the red carpet IMAX premiere of Monsters Vs. Aliens. I went there with my movie bloggers group to watch it and witness the battle of Earth monsters against the invading creatures from another galaxy. I'm happy to see the movie in full 3D in IMAX, the experience is better and more enjoyable. You're eyes will be tricked again by the 3D effects of the CGI animation and thanks to the IMAX 3D glasses for enhancing your viewing pleasure and get that IMAX 3D feeling.
the movie bloggers group in their monsterific photo pose

Here's my review about the movie.
I'm a big scifi and horror fan and because that this animated movie is for kids, I can relate on some of the characters and elements they used in some movies. It drove me nuts and I think few us viewers who just heared and laugh after hearing the theme song of the classic movie "Close Encouter of the third kind". I know most of the viewers are kids and they are not familiar with it, but this might help them also watch the classic films if they really want to know about Monsters.

Here are some elements of movies I just noticed about Monsters. ( read below)
1. Attack of the 50 foot tall woman
2. The Fly
3. Creatures from the Black Lagoon
4. The Blob
5. Independece Day
6. The Earth Stood Still
7. E.T.
8. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
9. Godzilla
10. Mothra
11. Mars Attacks
12. Invaders from Mars
13. Men in Black
14. King Kong
15. War of the Worlds

if you combine these sci fi and monster movies and create your own parody, you will get a Monsters Vs. Aliens animated movie.

The Imax experience is really great, and I highly recommend it. Because you will watch the entire movie in full 3D. The animation will wow you with the 3D effects and I laughed almost in the entire movie because I really enjoy the story and the funny scenes of each of the characters. I like the character of BOB, the gelantinous mass with no brain creature, and most kids love him for this funny moves and dialogues. The textures of each animated character is well treated with each of their effects, the skin texture of Susan aka Ginormica looks so real already, but you'll see that only in the beginning of the movie, the hair of Insectosaurus flows very well.

When it comes to audio and sounds, the IMAX will blow you away, I just felt lots of audio waves in some of the exploding scenes, and It looks like that I am inside the movie, the shock wave of some explosions and thumping of the ground will make you fool yourself that you are in the movie. I heard one kid screaming and saying to her mom this "mommy! we are inside the movie! look!" the kid got amaze and I know he felt the IMAX 3D experience.

If you are planning to watch the movie in a regular screening, I suggest to get an extra budget and watch the IMAX 3D screening of Monsters Vs. Aliens. The P350 entrance fee ( is this the ticket price??) is a sure win for the 3D thing.

Fast food trip to Hermanos Deli Bar

If you want to feel and experience the atmosphere of Vigan, then there's no need to go there and just a few drive away in Manila, you'll spot Hermanos Deli Bar having their own Vigan style themed restaurant bar in Home Depot Center, Julio Vargas st. Ortigas, Pasig City. Thanks to Spanx, Ivan, Anton for inviting us to this one of a kind tour inside Hermanos, and thanks to Manny, the owner of the bar for welcoming us and introduce to us this 1 month only deli bar that specialize in red wine and tapas.

It’s a cool evening in the 1860’s – Manila is in a calm but frenzied rush as the Christmas season beckons. Strictly exclusive restaurants are filled with pure Kastillas, as they feast on traditional Spanish food and wine. Amidst the flamenco music being played by guitaristas, chatter and laughter from frailes, oficiales and the who’s who in Spanish-controlled Manila society fills the air.

With the Church bells ringing in the background and elderly ladies reciting prayers to herald in the festive time of the year, the illustrados, mestizos and educados, middle-society Filipinos, and even indios gather together in their own private places, not only to celebrate the onset of the season, but to discuss aspirations, doctrines and plans of gaining liberation and independence from Spain. It may be in one of these gatherings that a del Pilar, a Lopez-Jaena or even a Rizal was a passionate participant in the whispered discussions.

Their table fare consists of Spanish sausages, meats and cheeses. They combine these with native Filipino delicacies such as longganisa, dried beef and carabao cheese (kesong puti) to produce sumptuous meals to go with their wines and native brews. They shared, bonded and dreamt amidst a unique blend of small dishes that can be termed as “Kastinoy Tapas”. Uniquely Filipino with a Spanish twist. Through these interactions, heroes are born, ideas are formulated and brotherhoods are established. Brotherhoods – brothers – HERMANOS!

fresh wakang fish fillet in lemon balsimic olive oil, this is pure win! I love the taste and the feel of the food to be semi exotic. Many people don't like to eat raw fish, but this one will make your taste buds happy. I love this and its a 5 star rating for me.
Bola Bola Paella Dela Guerra
made of deep fried paella rice with chili sauce, its kinda weird to deep fried a rice and turn it into a bola bola, but I enjoyed chomping this, sounds like a maki rice with food in it.
Tapang Usa de Katipunan
the talk of the town, many food bloggers recommend this meal, and my first time to eat and taste a "deer" meat. All softy, chewable and the after taste of it is great!, best serve with rice and coke or beer.

Glaze your friends and be part of the Krispy Kreme Karnival party

just heard about this Chocolate Karnival and thanks to Spanky for emailing us a big teaser of this chocolate craze in Krispy Kreme, I immediately bought 1 dozen of all glaze with massive chocolate cover and brought it home. I like the taste of it, not that sweet but the chocolate really dominates in the doughnut. The doughnut became so soft and it melts quickly in your mouth. Seems like a mutation process that transformed the Krispy Kreme doughnut into a chocolate thing. They also have chocolate karnival version of all chocolate doughnuts and with fillings.

And then I just received this Glaze everyone campaign and thanks to Jen A. for sending hehehe, and if you visit their website You can tag and send a Glaze to your friends and later on, you will receive your Free Glaze doughnut and a special coffee. If you register, you will also have a chance to win a special invite for a Krispy Kreme Chocolate Karnival party happening on March 28, 2009. I guess I'm already part of this party since I receive an sms few weeks ago. Wow I'm now so excited. No doughnuts for me in the coming days. I will wait for March 28th for the big karnival party!

So what are you waiting for ? Let's glaze everyone in their inboxes hahahaa

Toy stores in Greenhills will move from Blue to Orange Lane

I sometimes joke around with friends and tell them that Greenhills is evil!
Because all good stuff is in there and if I enter the mall, I might leave the area with a plastic bag full of toys and action figures. For us, the venue is the heaven and birthplace of toy collectors and fanatics.

I just got some confirmed news that all toy stores in Shoppesville in Greenhills will be transferring from Blue lane to Orange lane. A friend told me that the Orange lane is located on the other side of Blue lane. The transfer of stores is to open up a major renovation for the Blue Lane. I know it will be a hard for the toy store owners to move and start over again. But that will be for a temporary stay at the Orange lane. I just heard that the new renovated Blue lane will be available for them again to rent it, but to pay much double price of the rental free. Many toy store owners was disappointed and some of them just gave word that they will close down and move to online selling, thats a wise decision and it will be benefit them more rather than pay for a double rental fee of store space.

I just suggested that, they can start over again and form a group of 3 toy stores and rent one venue for them, and they share all the rent, although the space is small for the 3 owners. I just hope that they revert back the P10,000 rental fee of the old Blue Lane in Shoppesville. Let us save the toy stores in Greenhills :)

A toy store owner already consulted me about online selling, I just told them that it is still effective and they should go back online and focus for awhile there while look for a new venue for toy stores like in Greenhills. Will we ever see a the new blue lane somewhere?

PLAYBOY Philippines - April 2009 ( 1st year anniversary issue)

Join PLAYBOY Philippines as it celebrates its first birthday with its biggest issue ever! Photographer KRISTINE SOGUILON lenses the magazine’s most ambitious cover yet, leading into a nautical-themed pictorial, All Hands On Deck, featuring our previous Playmates guaranteed to shiver anyone’s timbers. To document this historic shoot, we take readers Inside: Behind the Scenes of a PLAYBOY Pictorial for a special look into the work that became a labour of love for all involved. We also tag along for the Playmate Anniversary Getaway, where our girls take some well-deserved time to themselves. In the spirit of celebration, two of Deal or No Deal’s 26K Girls, ANDREA SHIN and RUBY BASCO take center stage as our Anniversary Playmates of the Month. Also exclusively, for the first time in the Philippines, we are proud to present TETCHIE AGBAYANI’s legendary pictorial, straight from the German edition's archives. Sitting down with us for 20 Questions is Senator GRINGO HONASAN, speaking on his experiences on both sides of the law. Rounding off the month is an excerpt from legendary screenwriter RICKY LEE’s recently-released first novel “Para Kay B: Ester”. Living up to PLAYBOY’s status as the ultimate men’s lifestyle magazine, we present for this month features on Andropause (the male version of menopause), and what to ask your tailor for when buying the perfect suit. It’s our birthday, ladies and gents, and you won’t believe what we’ve got coming up. ( Read more below)

A lot can happen in a year, and Heaven knows the last 12 months have been nothing, if not tumultuous, for the global economy. We in the magazine business certainly haven’t been immune: Every day, we read or hear about publications folding or opting for the online route. We at PLAYBOY believe there’s something to be said for the written word that you can hold in your hand (to say nothing of the inherent joy of physically opening a Centerfold).

I realize I would be remiss if I didn’t admit to the birthing pains that we experienced (and continue to experience, to some extent) starting out, but I would be outright negligent if I didn’t make mention of the outstanding work being put out by my core editorial team. Over the past few months, they have never ceased to impress me with their tireless energy, ability and outright enthusiasm that shows on every page of the magazine you now hold.

As we graduate from our freshman status and enter our sophomore year, I thank our readers, who have been with us since the beginning. For your loyalty, your letters, and most especially your criticisms, I thank you. For those of you picking us up for the first time, welcome to the family.

Believe me when I say, ladies and gentlemen, we’re just getting started.

Adam Penn

In 1953, Hugh Hefner created PLAYBOY and, in the process, set the standard by which all subsequent men’s magazines would be judged.

Irreverent, yet never immature; Sexy, yet never lewd, PLAYBOY would deliver on its promise of being the ultimate men’s lifestyle magazine, featuring entertainment, politics, culture, humor and sex - all presented with a sophistication and intelligence uncommon to men’s publications before or since.

PLAYBOY’s groundbreaking combination of lifestyle and editorial content has featured contributions from some of the most important names of the journalistic, business and entertainment worlds, including Marshall McLuhan, Carl Bernstein, Bob Woodward, Alex Haley, Martin Luther King, Jr. (his last published work before his death), Shel Silverstein, Lenny Bruce, David Halberstam, Nat Hentoff, P.G. Wodehouse, Vladimir Nabokov, James Baldwin, Kenneth Tynan, Herbert Gold, T.C. Boyle, Ken Purdy, W. Somerset Maugham, Vladimir Nabokov and Gore Vidal, as well as local writers and Palanca Award winners, Butch Dalisay, Krip Yuson, Mike Marasigan and Susan S. Lara.

Literary icons who have had their works published in the pages of PLAYBOY, many exclusively, include Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk, Ian Fleming, Roald Dahl, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Jack Kerouac, Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, Joyce Carol Oates, Tom Clancy, Margaret Atwood, Michael Crichton and John Updike.

PLAYBOY has featured some of the most beautiful women in the world, from its girl-next-door Playmates to celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Cindy Crawford, Charlize Theron, Jessica Alba, Denise Richards, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Pamela Anderson, Ursula Andress, Kim Basinger, Shannen Doherty, Brooke Burke, Gena Lee Nolin, Charisma Carpenter, Drew Barrymore, Daryl Hannah, Naomi Campbell, Bo Derek, Katarina Witt, Stephanie Seymour, Farrah Fawcett and Sharon Stone.

PLAYBOY Interview and 20 Questions subjects are the movers and shakers of their chosen fields. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, Fidel Castro, Jimmy Hoffa (Hoffa's last interview before his disappearance), Jimmy Carter, Yasser Arafat, Muhammad Ali, The Beatles, John Lennon, Miles Davis, Edu and Luis Manzano, Ryan Cayabyab, Tetchie Agbayani, Gloria Diaz, Atty. Felipe Gozon, Chavit Singson, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Sen. Gringo Honasan, and Imelda and Ferdinand Marcos, have all taken their turns, speaking candidly on anything and everything that came to mind.

Animax's LaMB animated movie - blog feature and review

To celebrate the premiere of LaMB in Animax tonight at 8pm (Manila Time), I'm publishing a short feature about the 1st animated movie project by Animax Asia and script written by a Filipino, Carmelo Juinio. It was a great timing that I received an invitation to watch the press screening of LaMB in Greenbelt MyCinema few weeks ago, and I was right that Carmelo will be there and will watch the animated movie for the first time. Carmelo wrote the story of LaMB and it was his winning entry in the Animax animation script writing contest, and in all entries in the world, they picked up and granted an animated movie using Carmelo's story about people being laminated and preserving its beauty.

Here's my video interview with Carmelo Juinio, he reveals to me that he is a freelancer or a professional bum, a college drop out in FEU and a freelance computer programmer, and in this video he shares to us his vision about laminating people, the big influence of music in making this story, the strength of writing it and funny times during the days of working on the script after 5 years storing it in his vault.

Also I just met Greg Ho, VP and General Manager of Animax, and it was great to meet him again, and he just shared that he did convince his boss to materialize this idea and he even volunteer to monitor everything during the production. And he just love the story of Carmelo, and with that story they created it more darker and fitted for the culture of SE Asians. He said that they are not sure if there will be a follow up of this project in producing animated movies, but Greg's final note was, If this is a success, then expect more Animax produced anime show in the future. And oh wait, Greg told me that this movie is made of FLASH based animation. And produced paper less, means all digital.

(Read more below)

The Review

screen caps from the movie

After some intermission and watching the behind the scene, they just showed the LaMB animation starting from an accident occured in the lamination laboratory, they just cut it and then the intro video of the animated movie shows up. Featuring some clips and also fast introduction of each characters. Then I saw the characters moving and talking and because of that I'm very familiar with the quality and style for FLASH animation, I just can't help my eyes remove it and vision turn out to be very technical, visually. But I just removed that concept after seeing some 3D and CGI on the screen. So I said to myself, ahhhhhhhh. Me and's Alex Villafania, my cinema seat mate, exchanges short review during the screening. Then I noticed that the 2D flash design is showing up, then over laps of 3D and CGI stuff covering and also being used in the background. The filtering of the movie is can be seen, but I'm not sure if it is visible in the small tv screen. I'm turning very technical already, and because it is made digitally, we just can't avoid sharing on what we see. They blended the flash animation with 3D and CGI and I think they used the 2D of Flash for the characters and the 3D and CG for the background and other components of the movie. To think of it that way, the makers of this animation is a genius!

Josie Ho, Vanness Wu, and Tanaka Chie

The dubbing for Vanness Wu and Josie Ho are matched for their character, I'm kinda feel weird everytime I hear Josie Ho talk, looks like that she's reading something, and maybe its the script. Vaness Wu's english language for the movie is perfect also, but I just can't stop noticing some delay in the lips and mouth movement of the character when speaking in the animation. But I hope they saw that too and re-edit it, but I'm not sure if theres a slight delay of audio duirng our screening. Vanness Wu (Dr. Jack Griswold) and Josie Ho ( Keiko Suzuki) provides the english and mandarin/cantonese language, while Tanaka Chie dubs the character Keiko Suzuki in Mandarin

The great thing for this movie is the main storyline and how the story goes, the story started from everything and it will never confuse a viewer, because the introduction of each character is done well, character development occurs in every scene, were you learn more of the character's personality and history, and also discover their main role in the LaMB storyline.

The use of branded entertainment can be seen mostly in the entire film. From music, props, wardrobe and even personalities. The greatest branded entertainment ( a form of advertisement placement in a film using existing products) are the music of Click Five and Simple Plan, the band Simple Plan is in the movie and they are fully in CGI as a band. The wardrobe of the character Eve of LaMB is designed by Vivienne Tam.

· LaMB to feature two exclusive dresses designed by Vivienne Tam in the animation TV feature
· LaMB protagonist Eve dons the Vivienne Tam designs in the animation which will be made into actual dresses for an exclusive showcase at LaMB launch events in March 2009 across Asia
· Ready-to-wear versions of the dresses are in the Fall/Winter 2008 Collection from Vivienne Tam, the fashion house responsible for gowns worn by Hollywood stars Halle Berry, Ashley Judd, Hayden Panettiere, Heather Graham and Ashanti

The only flaw of this movie is the non-sync of the mouth of the character while talking, and the fast pace of some scenes, I'm not just sure if it will be much better to watch it on TV, because I saw the movie in a big screen in Greenbelt MyCinema, sometimes syncing the audio and video to a projected big screen is sometimes be delayed. The animated movie is one awesome piece of animated movie that merges different kinds of media.

But my over all review will be, this animation feature has a ground breaking success in stitching different kinds of media and the big collaboration of people in the industry makes the job more easier. LaMB is the first and I know many will follow on its foot step. I'm supporting this because our Pinoy friend, Carmelo Juinio created the story and I know it will inspire a lot of young audience if they watch the movie.
