Cebu City, Philippines - January 30, 2010 … IBM announced the opening of a new Global Delivery Center for Application Services (AS) in Cebu, Philippines. The new Cebu hub demonstrates IBM’s strengthened global delivery capabilities in providing information technology (IT) services to clients to support their growth in the local and global markets.
IBM is expanding its application services operations in the Philippines, offering key competencies such as Java and Web technologies, Lotus Notes, Testing and Software Maintenance. The second IBM global delivery site for AS in the country is located at the TGU Tower in Asiatown IT Park, Lahug Cebu City.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia of Cebu Province who led the ribbon-cutting and inauguration of the IBM facility yesterday said, "The launch of this new IBM Global Delivery Center site in Cebu signals the strong confidence global businesses have in Cebu and its people. The first Global Delivery Center for Application Services in the Philippines was launched in 2003. Located at Eastwood City, Quezon City in Metro Manila, the center will continue to deliver a full range of end-to-end IT solutions and support clients globally from various industries such as banking, insurance, telecommunications, utilities, media, manufacturing, oil and gas and distribution.

The southern region plays a very important role in IBM’s strategy for geographical expansion in the Philippines, and Cebu is at the center of this. IBM has been operating in Cebu for over thirty years and is committed to investing and growing its presence there. The new Global Delivery Center site is IBM’s second facility in Cebu.
