Invitation to a Guided Birdwatching Afternoon Walk in UP Diliman

Orioles, Fantails & Kingfishers ... do you know that these are some of the common resident birds found in the University of the Philippines? The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines invites you to join our guided bird watching trip on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City and discover the wonderful world of birds.(read more below)

Assemble at the parking lot of the National Insitute of Geographical Sciences (NIGS)at 4:00 pm. We will start the birdwalk with an orientation for first-timers before we take a leisurely 2-hour walk to meet the birds. We will bird in the area around the NIGS to meet the resident Long-tailed Shrike and Black-naped Oriole before moving on to the Hardin ng Rosas ricefields where we will hopefully catch views of birds like the Common Moorhen and White-breasted Waterhen.

Participants are advised to wear long pants, rubber shoes or hiking shoes and dress in muted colors. Please bring water, snacks, sun block & umbrella or raincoat.

The guided trip for first-timers is free. Each participant is required to have a pair of binoculars. The club rents out binoculars at P 50.00/pair. If you bring your own binoculars, no other charges apply. Slots are limited and participants are REQUIRED to confirm their slots and indicate if they need to rent binoculars with Mike Lu at myckle224@yahoo.com.
