The US Senate will have a debate this coming January 23 and then on the 24th it will be the day that everyone on the higher seat will totally agree to release SOPA as a law and like a Kraken to destroy all online materials that are generated by us users.
Thanks to some individuals who raised their hands and not to support SOPA, and threaten a global internet and social media black out on Jan 23rd.
"While the majority of companies and individuals who profit off of content production have lobbied for and are supportive of SOPA, the largest tech companies in the world are vehemently opposed to the new piece of legislation. 87% of the Wikipedia users polled were in support of Jimmy Wales’ idea to initiate an “Internet blackout.”There's no definite time when will the nuclear black out will occur, even that we are not covered by the SOPA here in our country, but the internet giants that we always use and rely will be greatly affected and it will create a massive nuclear reaction to users and maybe to other businesses. If SOPA is approved, then we should be careful and maybe start having our own Google, Facebok, Twitter and etc. just to have our own freedom, I just hope that SOPA will just die even before Jan. 23rd.

About SOPA
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), also known as H.R. 3261, is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on October 26, 2011, by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors. The bill expands the ability of U.S. law enforcement and copyright holders to fight online trafficking in copyrighted intellectual property and counterfeit goods.[2] Now before the House Judiciary Committee, it builds on the similar PRO-IP Act of 2008 and the corresponding Senate bill, the PROTECT IP Act.[3]
The originally proposed bill would allow the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as copyright holders, to seek court orders against websites accused of enabling or facilitating copyright infringement. Depending on who requests the court orders, the actions could include barring online advertising networks and payment facilitators such as PayPal from doing business with the allegedly infringing website, barring search engines from linking to such sites, and requiring Internet service providers to block access to such sites. The bill would make unauthorized streaming of copyrighted content a crime, with a maximum penalty of five years in prison for 10 pieces of music or movies within six months. The bill also gives immunity to Internet services that voluntarily take action against websites dedicated to infringement, while making liable for damages any copyright holder who knowingly misrepresents that a website is dedicated to infringement.[4]
- more here in WikipediaI don't know if everyone know about this, we should watch and throw on a big spotlight in the US as the internet nation are having a big battle in their lives contra SOPA, it will be a big change if ever SOPA is approved and everyone can no longer use any materials or even borrow photos, videos, or any copyrighted content for our blogs.
Both bills are intended to help put a stop to foreign websites that illegally post, and sometimes sell, intellectual property from the United States. Federal law-enforcement agencies would be empowered to shut down those sites and cut off advertising and online payments to them. - CNN
There's also goodness of the SOPA, this can stop selling and distribution online of all kinds of counterfeit goods and digital media, but I'm not sure if everyone is in favor if digital media like movies, mp3 and etc to be considered. There's no actual written or confirmed news about this social media blackout, but its already a news that circulates and maybe the next morning we wake up, everything is offline.
I just wondered...can we live for a day without Google, Facebook, Twitter, Paypal, Yahoo!, Foursquare, and etc.... and hey! why is it that Friendster is not listed ???
