WFP Supports Government Relief Efforts for Flood-Affected Communities

-press release-

MANILA – In the wake of monsoon rains that have brought severe floods to the Luzon and Visayas regions, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has mobilized logistics and food support tocomplement the Philippine Government’s emergency relief efforts, working closely with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

“WFP is saddened by the humanitarian impact of the non-stop rains over the last week in the Philippines, and we would like reiterate our solidarity with the Philippine Government during times of emergencies. We stand ready to offer our full support to augment government efforts when needed,” said WFP Philippines Representative and Country Director Stephen Anderson.

WFP has delivered a total of 52.5 metric tons of high-energy biscuits to benefit 262,500 flood-affected individuals from the National Capital Region, Region III, and Region IV-A. These biscuits are currently being distributed by the DSWD.

Most of the biscuits (39.5 metric tons) will go to Regions III and IV-A, which the government has identified as the most flood-affected, where they will be distributed to 197,500 people.

The remaining 13 metric tons will assist 65,000 flood-affected people in the National Capital Region, which includes the areas of Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Paranaque and Quezon City.

High-energy biscuits are wheat-based biscuits fortified with vitamins and minerals. They are often distributed during the first few days of an emergency, when people have limited access to cooking facilities.

In addition to distributing the biscuits, WFP is contracting trucks to help transport DSWD relief supplies to affected communities in Metro Manila and neighbouring provinces.

In the coming days, WFP will also distribute nutritious ready-to-use supplementary food to about77,000 flood-affected children (aged 6 to 36 months) in Luzon, in partnership with the Department of Health.

Unfamiliar beings in our room

This always happens to me whenever I'm sick and battling a flu, last night I went to bed at 6pm just to beat the flu down and conserve my energy for dinner. Then someone woke me up and then I didn't recognize the person infront of me, it took me around 30 seconds to figure out that I'm not dreaming. The vision is blurry and like those alien abduction scene in a X-Files series. Then after half a minute of confusion, I recognize that my wife is waking me up and she said that its time for dinner, then she found out that I'm sick.

I'm not yet fully recovered, but I'm doing my best to beat this flu down.

Back to normal

The weather is back to normal and its great to see the sunshine this morning, I love the weather today, sunny and warm, but that was 10 hours ago, the sky became dark and the cold breeze came back again. I'm not sure if it will rain today or not, we want to go to the mall just to stretch our bodies and also shop around. My son wants to go out too, and I noticed that he's bored already and want to go out and play. Yesterday I went to the mall alone, but its boring to go there alone, and I want my kid be with me and we will visit the toy store and get new set of Hot Wheels cars. As I arrived home, I felt a fever that threatens my body, it made me weak last night and went to bed early, I didn't tell my wife that I felt sick last night and then this morning I'm very warm but the energy to do some workloads online is gone, I charged all my gadgets and then ate my breakfast, that's 3 buns only, because I'm having a diet. I'm not sure if the diet affects my system that's why I felt weak. I'm planning to have a work out every morning but I always end up walking barefooted in the morning and straight to the dining table. ohh no.

Also, I'm doing some changes for this blog too.

I'm sick.....and I'll be back soon for more cool updates.

Goodbye to social networking

sad news...hay
Read the latest news from Multiply, they will start to remove their social networking features and content sharing, all media files and blogs will be deleted and Multiply will focus now in e-commerce.

Hello. Stefan here, writing you from Multiply HQ in Jakarta, Indonesia.

As most of you are probably aware, Multiply's mission has evolved over the past year and a half to become the biggest and most beloved ecommerce marketplace in two very exciting markets, Indonesia and the Philippines. As our focus has shifted, we have reviewed all of our operations, and made some decisions that will affect everyone here.

From December 1st, we will unfortunately no longer be able to support Multiply in its current form - notably we will be removing the social networking and content sharing part of Multiply (photos, videos, blogs, social messaging, etc.). We have decided to discontinue providing and hosting these services, as we have concluded that other Internet sites who are committed to social networking services will do a better job serving you than we can.

For our existing users of social networking features, we will be providing easy ways for you to either download your stuff (photos, blogs, content, etc), or migrate it to other online services. We'll announce the precise details shortly. It will be your choice whether to download, migrate or just let your content lapse (and get deleted).
For our existing ecommerce users (both buyers and sellers) in Indonesia and the Philippines, there will be no action required.
Regarding any existing Multiply Premium subscriptions we will refund any unused balance, and apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. Please contact customer service to request a refund. Note that this is for Multiply Premium, not the ecommerce related Multiply Trust product.

I am aware of how disruptive this news may be, and understand the disappointment that it may cause. Ultimately this was a business decision, critical to our to success moving forward. Instead, we are excited to pursue our own mission to give the 350 million consumers in Indonesia and the Philippines a great way to buy and sell items online. Our singular focus now is for Multiply to retain its status as a vibrant e-commerce destination in Southeast Asia in the years ahead.

I suspect that many of you will not like this news, and am sorry to have to deliver it now. I hope that you will be able to understand the reasons for our decision and thank you for being a part of the Multiply community over the past eight years.

Monsoon rains and floods

I didn’t expected that we’re going to experience another flooding here in Luzon, we’re still lucky here at home that we are not affected by the flooding, but we are stranded and can’t buy food in a nearby mall, because the entire road is under knee deep flood. Check the photo above for example, taken by a friend of our blogger who both lives in Cavite too. The small creek overflows and all roads straight down to the other town is flooded, I heard that the flood in Niog and Talaban is under waist deep, so there’s no way even to go out of our city.

But its okay to stay indoors and its much more safe than outside, the heavy rains are unpredictable and its hard to buy food outside. Our bakery got ran out of bread and maybe their bakers are stranded somewhere, in the afternoon we got in time to grab a freshly baked loaf of bread, all hot and uncut, we bought it and we let it cool down and cut the bread by ourselves, and yeah.. it was my first time to cut a loaf of bread.

I postponed all my blog updates and social media activities, this is to give way more important news and updates coming from our friends and people who are affected by the flood. We just retweet, reblog, repost, share and like all kinds of accurate information and news about rescue, survival tips, flood alert, weather news and even flood photos of affected areas.

I stayed home here with my family and be prepared if ever the rain didn’t stop and the flooding becomes worst. I’m very glad that the typhoon Haikui will hit land this Thurs in China.

Let’s stay safe and just post online if you need help or rescue.

Jollibee Kids Meal toys of the month : Green Lantern and Strawberry Shortcake collectibles

This August 2012, Jollibee release the new toys and collectibles of Jollibee Kids Meal featuring Green Lantern and Strawberry Shortcakes. The two kinds of toys are for our little boys and girls, the Green Lantern in its action figure quality with light up gimmicks, while the Strawberry Shortcakes is a toy beauty kit for little girls who love to dress up and pretend play.

I like the Green Lantern Green Force Collection, I just hope that Jollibee will release more of this version because this kind of design and toy is exclusive only for the Philippines. I’m sure collectors in the other side of the world will add this collection for their Green Lantern and fast food toys collection wish list.

You can can grab the toy for free with every purchase of a Jollibee Kids Meal - Yumburger Meal for P80, Spaghetti Meal for P80, and 1 piece Chickenjoy Meal for P99.
The new toys will be available til August 31, 2012 and it will be offered until supplies last (OMG!)

Green Lantern JKM Toy 2
Kids can also fight for justice with the Energy Spinner. They just have to insert the weapon of their choice on Green Lantern’s left arm and wind the knob at his back to make the weapon spin. They can also pop in the Force Field Ring on the superhero’s back to see his chest glow.

Green Lantern JKM Toy 1
The Green Lantern Green Force Collection is a sure-hit with adventurous boys. They can send a signal to the emerald knight with the Force Field Ring. All they have to do is choose an image from the four available logos, place it on the ring, and turn the ring counter clockwise to project the symbol.

toy 3
Jollibee also has a charming treat for little girls, the Strawberry Shortcake Sweet Surprise Beauty Kit. The Reversible Stylish Bracelet is a fashionable arm candy that also contains two shades of lip gloss with applicator, plus sheets of cute temporary body art tattoo. What’s more, young fashionistas can keep their favorite photo inside this cute accessory.
toy 4
The Strawberry Shortcake Musical Charm Hair Brush is another must-have for young princesses, so they can fix their locks while listening to tinkling music.

The search for my perfect iPhone case

It’s weird that I’m blogging my search for the perfect iPhone case, because I need it immediately and I don’t want my new phone be damaged if ever I accidentally drop it on the floor. My mission last week is to visit SM Bacoor and visit the SM Cyberzone branch to look for the best iPhone casing and research the wonders of this smartphone. I didn’t expected that I’ll be an iOs user, I’m a droid fan, but the iPhone converted me so quickly.

My first visit is the Powermac center in SM Cyberzone, They have a lot of stocks of cases in different brand, I’m just shocked that these cases are so expensive, I checked out some casing and found some interesting features of each brands.

I like the Otter casing, but it looks so bulky.

The funny thing that happened to me is that I forgot to visit an ATM machine and withdraw some shopping money, all left in my pocket is P350. I’m so lazy to go down the mall and get some money, but I decided to buy the cheaper versions.

Slim Shield casing of Agent18 looks nice

O!Photo iPhone casing for photographers
ohhhh I love this casing, I’ll save money next month and buy this, the casing has a nice camera strap and also a tripod screw.

And because that I have limited budget in my pocket that time, I got attracted to this Swiss brand iPhone case, they sell a nice shell for only P200. I love the style and looks classy, I’m glad that I did not end up buying those rubbery jelly case.

Here’s my iPhone4s with the Swiss case, I chose black color just to balance the colored view for my eye. Also attached is my MiPow power tube.

Hot Toys stop motion - Batman: Dark Knightfall

I just saw this stop motion animation of Batman fan film, they used Hot Toys Batman and other characters from the The Dark Knight movie. If you watch this fan film, it will remind you some of the cool highlights from the classic movie Batman with Keaton and Nicholson and up to The Dark Knight Rises movie with Bale and Hardy.

Film makers Derek Kwok and Henri Wong of Parabucks Co. did a great job in animating and keeping the fan boy's spirit in heat for the Bat saga. I agree with them, we deserve to have more Batsie films and movies, I think the best way to resurrect Heath Ledger is to use a Hot Toys version of himself as a Joker, I think it will work or maybe a Hot Toys full length film for a possible return of the Joker film should be in stop motion. I'm sure the fan boys and girls will love it and explain what ever happened to the Joker during the month of Bane and rise of Batman in the last movie that was launched by Chris Nolan.

What do you think of this stop motion film ?
