Aug
9, 2013 – I have my own favorite of models whenever I attend and cover fashion
events, I start to look for my top fave female models, and also male models, Its
weird that I like male models too, but that’s for fashion ramp photography for
my blog and I’m just amazed that some models are fit into the right style when
it comes to their physical and natural features. The Filipino models are top
notch and there are a lot of proof already that Pinoy and Pinay models stand out
whenever they go head to head with other foreign models, thanks to these reality
tv series and contest like the America’s Next Top Model show that inspires many
people on how to fulfill their dreams to be a model up to a top notch model. I
sometimes watch this reality show whenever I caught this airing in cable tv, and it’s a good
educational material for models and also photographers to learn on how things work behind
the curtain in the modeling industry.
From its Asian version, the Asia’s Next Top Model 2013 just
finished last February 2013, that’s the 1st Cycle (or season 1 of the reality
tv show) and we are so proud that we have a Filipina model named
Stephanie
Retuya that won 2nd place and according to this news in
GMA
NEWS, she’s a mom at 23 years old, and doing part time in modeling for 2
years and never been outside the country to travel or do gigs ever since, and
look at her now, she landed 2nd place and almost won the grand prize and now going some gigs as
an international model.
Now fast forward to 6 months after the airing of
the 1st cycle, the people and production behind Asia’s Next Top Model announced
that they are now preparing for the 2nd cycle of the reality tv model search
here in Asia, and then last August 9, 2013, the 1st phase just started here in
Hyve club, in W Global Center, Bonifacio Global City, they organized a go-see
session to search for the best female model to represent the Philippines. Only
one model will be selected and will fly overseas to compete with other
participants from Asian countries. (but according to the producers, there might be a possibility that one country can have 2 representative)
It will be a long month of search to
get one participant each coming from Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Nepal, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, China, Vietnam and
Philippines. They will start shoot the episode after the model search and
most episodes will be done in Singapore, and expect that some episode will be
shot here too in the Philippines.
The next target date of the premiere
of Asia’s Next Top Model 2nd Cycle is on January 8, 2014 and that will be aired
here in Star World. One winner will walk the ramp taking home a $100k SG cash
prize, a new car and a modeling contract.
Let’s cross our fingers once
more and hope that a rep. from the Philippines will bag the 1st place for the
2nd cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model.
I
got invited to have an interview with Joey Mead, one of the judges of Asia’s
Next Top Model, but I received a news that day that she can’t make it for the
go-see event and also interview with the media and bloggers. Fox International
Channel group organized instead of an interview with Fox International Channel
territory head Jude Tuarcuato and Eddy Tan, one of the producers of Asia’s Next
Top Model.
Jude
Turcuato of Fox International and Eddy Tan of Asia's Next Top Model production
meet us after a session of go-see with pinay model applicants, as I enter the
venue, I spotted lots of beautiful pinay models waiting outside, all dressed up
nicely, they are tall and got the Asia’s Next Top Model complex, but according
to Eddy Tan, all models will cross a live interview them, answering some
questions and all of it are video recorded for review. Model applicants should
be between 16-27 years old and come from the Philippines, at least 170cm tall
and strike a fierce pose.
Eddy Tan mentioned that they are looking for
model to represent their own country, that has a great smile, attitude and with a
drama in their life, something that can tell a story that will make an
interesting approach for tv viewers. Bec. it’s a reality tv show, everyone who is part of the show should bring their own story.
I also learned that
each selected participant will go psychological test.
I
asked a question to Mr. Eddy Tan if they allow any body modification from a model
application or participant, like a boob job or facial lift or any cosmetic
surgery. Eddy said that if the cosmetic modification really fits on the model
participant and has a body curve and well presented, there won’t be a problem from them if a model got a nice boob job for the competition.
I also
asked a question too for Jude Tuarcuato about any possibility for another set of
production inspired from the America’s next top model for males, he said that if
that in the American version is already successful but it will take more seasons
of the show in order to have an Asian counter part. It will depend on the
decision of the Asian production but still its possible.
“As
for Fox Intl Channel’s role, We're trying to localize everything and promote the
show locally like the last season. “ - Jude Tuarcuato
“I have met so
many Filipina model participants, all of them are very good, each has their own
personality and a story to tell. The show will teach each participant on how to
be a model and this will help them change themselves by using all those new
knowledge from the show.” – Eddy Tan
After
the interview session, they invited us to view a mock up interview with a pinay
model applicant for Asia’s Next Top Model 2nd Cycle go-see
here’s
a participant that showed up and she introduced her to the go-see interview –
Jude, Eddy and another guy from the production.
The
mock up interview looks real and even if the girl do all crazy things infront of
them just to show off their real personality, the panelist are focus on the
interview and carry on the next phase.
they are so serious ha…
here are some of the scenes…. the girl answered
some questions coming from the panelist. Everything is recorded and the
interview is in English.
I got surprised here that the girl took off her
shirt and showed her body wearing a part of a bikini, she told the panelist that
she’s game in anything.
