Axis
Watch made a week long art exhibit and also showcase of their watches in SM
Mall of Asia, the art exhibit is in partner with Children’s Hour, a charity
organization for kids and collaborated with renowned Filipino artists Ram
Mallari, Buds Convocar and Salvador Ching to showcase inspiring art works
created with the use of Axis watch parts.
Celebrities Sam YG and Lucky
Mercado visited the artists’ work hub for a one on one session on the creation
of the Axis art pieces. The art works are on display and are up for bidding at
the Time Out of Time Exhibit at the SM Mall of Asia from November 6-12, 2014.
Proceeds from the auction will be given to the “A Class of Your Own” project of
Children’s Hour.
Axis
Watch is not new for me, I’ve seen them and I owned one of the promo watches
that was launched during the Man of Steel movie, I also saw the limited edition
Man of Steel watch that is made from stainless steel and powered by Japan
Movement gears.
Axis Watch is a local brand of watch that uses Japan
Movement, it’s a clock gear and spring that is the heart and soul of the watch ,
it’s a rival to a Swiss Movement, but Japan Movement in Axis Watch is works
good, competitive and also less expensive.
Axis Watch price range is from
PHP 2.5k up to PHP 6k, depends on the design and the Japan Movement gear used in
the watch.
The
most highlighted part of the event is the art exhibit of our local artist, many
call them junk artist or scrap metal artist. Ram Mallari, Buds Convocar and
Salvador Ching are known to many art collectors as master art builder of many
things. Each of their artworks will be up for auction and the proceed will be
donated to Children’s Hour.
ART details:
The works of each
participating artist are an artistic translation of the concept of
time.
Ram Mallari turns discards into works of art. His mixed media
assemblages have garnered attention and praise. Mallari’s Axis artwork is called
“Time Voyager”. His work consists mainly of metal discards combined with
plastics and other non-metal discarded materials that were welded together.
He is hoping that this piece will help raise more awareness on recycling
and its value. Ram wants to inspire people to turn scraps into creative and
functional pieces and in the process, help them understand the value of his work
and its purpose.
Before pursuing a full time career in painting, Buds Convocar
spent his early years in the academe handling a wide array of art subjects such
as Design, Illustration, Typography, Painting and Cartooning.
His Axis work is entitled “We All Need More Time”. It communicates the
need for balance -- to focus on the challenges that confront us but still make
time for the people we love, especially in celebrating our triumphs.
Salvador “Buddy” J. Ching is a full-time, multi-awarded Painter,
Installation and Performance Artist. His work is entitled “Oras-yon” which is
part of the Women of Malolos Series. His work is inspired by the memories of the
past and represents the images of our history.
Before
the opening of the art exhibit. Axis Watch pulls off an awesome statue or time
freeze mob performance. Lots of people wearing Axis Watches are frozen for 15
minutes and it captured the attention of mall goers and even security guards,
and many of them visit the site to check out what’s going on.
The
freeze mob started to unfreeze when lots of people are starting to speculate
hahahaha.
awesome performance!
At
the booth of Axis Watch, they displayed their products of Axis watch with
different style, from Fashion, Street and Classy.
Here
are the artworks on display and for auction.
The
artworks looks simple but if you saw the time pieces embedded at the work,
you’ll realize that the artwork can really tell time for you.
Artwork
by Salvador Ching, this piece is auction off with a starting bid of PHP
25,000

More
items on display. I now have new favorite of watches made by Axis. At first I
thought they are a common style watch, but then the stainless steel brace is
very inviting to own one.
