GrabTaxi launches taxi booking service in Iloilo City

GRABTAXI INVADES ILOILO CITY
GrabTaxi, a mobile booking taxi app service finally launched their 4th city here in the Philippines. After Manila, Cebu and Davao, they now reached the land of Iloilo City to service the locals and also tourist who visits Iloilo City. The launched in Iloilo City was last March 11, 2015 at the Venue Function Rooms in Mandurriao, Iloilo City. The noise started during the morning of March 11 as the GrabTaxi’s partnered taxi fleet GDR taxi paraded the street of Jaro to inform everyone that Grab Taxi is here in Iloilo City.

Iloilo City is a big island with a rich culture, heritage, tourist spots and beaches. Taxi is one of the reliable transportation around Iloilo and its easy to roam there if you want to go to Jaro going to Lapaz or to the city proper.

Launched in 2013, GrabTaxi is the first and largest taxi app in the Philippines that help passengers book a cab with safety, speed, certainty and convenience.

WHATS NEXT AFTER ILOILO?
I asked Ms. Natasha Bautista, acting GM of GrabTaxi for the next invasion of GrabTaxi, as of now they are looking for a new city here in the Philippines to cater the Grab Taxi booking service. She mentioned a possible launch in Baguio City and Bacolod City. I asked what’s the basis for selecting a city to have GrabTaxi, she answered that the they will do a study and research first for the number of taxis needed, the destinations and get a partnered taxi operator to carry their service.

GRAB TAXI AS A TOURIST CAR FOR YOUR TRAVEL
I asked if its possible for a GrabTaxi and its driver to be my tourist guide if ever I got to Cebu, Davao or Iloilio City. GrabTaxi GM Natasha said that its possible but its not part of their booking app service, but the driver is a good source of information for your “what to eat”, “where to visit”, “where to stay” inquiries.

During our tour in Iloilo City, our GrabTaxi drivers brought us around the city and we visited some old churches, pasalubong centers and restaurant. They also picked us from the airport and brought us to our hotel in Injap Tower with a smooth and no hassle transpo service.

TAXI FARE METERED FOREVER
If you are using GrabTaxi booking app and hop on a GrabTaxi partnered taxi, you’ll never worry for any fixed taxi fare to reach your destination. GrabTaxi is in compliance with the LTFRB taxi fare policy, all taxi booking are purely metered. If you arrived in Iloilo City International Airport and want to go to Molo province, you just have to book a taxi and hop on with no hassle. Its up to you if you want to award your taxi driver a tip.

ZERO BOOKING FEE IN ILOILO CITY TIL END OF MAY 2015GrabTaxi GM Natasha mentioned that they will offer a zero booking fee in Iloilo City, all commuters can take this advantage by booking a taxi using their Grab Taxi app. The offer is up and good til end of May 2015.

GrabTaxi app can be downloaded for free and its available for iOS and Android OS devices.

Normally, here in Manila, the booking fee is PHP70, they haven’t mentioned yet on how much is the booking fee there in Iloilo City. Also, its up to the commuter if they will reward their driver with an incentive or tip.

HOW GRAB TAXI DRIVER EARNS?
I’ve learned that taxi drivers earn some incentive thru the GrabTaxi program. Normally majority shares of the taxi earnings for a day goes to the operators, then the booking fee awards the driver and also give a share to GrabTaxi. But GrabTaxi organizes an earning scheme like the driver keeps the tip and also GrabTaxi pays the taxi driver if there are special events hosted by GrabTaxi. For normal taxi drivers they just earn via boundary earnings.

Just like the Grab Car driver we met in Makati, we learned that he earns at least PHP20k per month.
