Popular
pie shop and café from Australia just opened their Pie Face branch here in
Manila. The 1st ever branch in the Philippines and 2nd in South East Asia. The
Pie Face shop sells meat pies with cute faces as code of their meaty flavor or
content. The 1st branch opened in 2003 in Sydney and opened more store across
Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Dubai, US and now here in the Philippines.
I
got the opportunity to try and taste the meat pies of Pie Face, last May 2015, I
was there to try their month old pie shop and café. I was surprised that their
Manila branch is just infront of my nose and I didn’t even noticed it. SM Mall
of Asia is a very crowded place to surf for food, there’s a big foot traffic and
lots of food establishments popping up from thin air. Its good to see that an
Australian store wants to test our market here in Manila and I think the
response is good because the meat pies comes in several variants and also the
price is very affordable.
For me, I can grab one pie and eat it while on
the run.
My only problem is that….its hard to memorize all those meat pie
faces at Pie Face ahhaha.
Great
to meet Mr. Alfred Lay, the COO of Pie Face Philippines
I also heard from him
that a possible new branch of Pie Face will come out soon.. my bet is SM
Megamall
Each
meat pie has its own facial expression. It’s a code to determine the meat flavor
or the content inside the pie. It’s a closed face pie and its hard to determine
what’s inside. It’s a hand crafted and freshly prepared meat pies done by Pie
Face. They use French butter, an authentic kind of butter that can be only used to add more flavor and crisp of the baked meat pies of Pie Face.
Some
ingredients used were locally sourced, but for special flavors, the ingredients
should come straight from their mother ship in Australia and also no other style
of butter can be used because it will change the taste of their meat pies.
So
let’s identify the meat pie faces in Pie Face
top to bottom
1. Chunky
Steak
2. Chicken and Mushroom
3. Philly Cheese Steak
(Mr.
Alfred, just correct me if I’m wrong hahaa)
There are more meat pies,
and they have lots of variants, they have the meaty part, the chili part and the
all veggie part.
Here’s

their meat pies.

my Raspberry Frappe.
SRP: PHP 160
I
like to cool down with this Frappe and eat my yummy meat pies.
But I think
the best partner for a hot meat pie is a hot brewed Di Bella coffee.

Lovely
art gimmick from Pie Face haha.
Feel
free to dine in or do a take out
My suggestion: Try the big pie first.
As
for pasalubong… the mini pies are the best seller.
It can make any donut
joints cry hahahah.
Slicing
